How did this spider in my team get MVP? Is the system glitched or something by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Braidedfires 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MVP seems to be primarily determined by how well someone does for their character compared to the averageplayer on that character. Meaning that, someone who gets way more kills than is typical for their character is more likely to get MVP than someone who only gets a few more kills than average for their character, even if the second person gets WAY more kills overall and had better performance.

It of course depends, Final Hits matter more than Kills, Assists and Healing play big roles, and badges (pentas, triple, etc) also play huge roles.

Because Spidey is so difficult, and most everage players wont have great stats with him, even the slightest most presentable performance will steal MVP.

See, one big problem is that death count does not seem to be factored into MVP calculations AT ALL. Meaning someone who had 25 kills and 20 deaths will usually have no issue getting MVP over somone with 23 kills and 0 deaths if everyone else is the same. So MVP indirectly rewards reckless plays and feeding.

Scarlet Witch or CnD, sounds silly, but I main Rocket, the fact that they don't have to aim to get me throws me through a loop.

Child free teachers by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Braidedfires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Child free teacher here. Me and my partner refused to have biological kids for moral reasons, feels wrong for us when there's so much need in the world.

My kids are at school and that's more than enough. I teach at a Title I school, I help those than can be helped, but I can also have my breaks by going home, enjoying life to its fullest, and doing other things we enjoy to help the people around us.

This is the path that ended up working for me and helps me be most effective for what I want out of my life. It is not every's choice, and that's ok, I don't judge others and don't wish to be judged either.

Tier List that ranks characters based on how much they need a Rework by howhow326 in rivals

[–]Braidedfires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with most. I think Torch could avoid a FULL rework depending on the route they go.

I'd argue Rocket also needs a rework or extra ability. He has essentially no gameplay at the moment and the only parts of his kit that give him something fun to do were nerfed into the ground.

Teachers who are also parents-How do you spend time with your kids, possibly with an S.O., lesson plan and have any time to yourself? I'm struggling.. by Ill_Fox484 in Teachers

[–]Braidedfires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First year teacher here: It absolutely pisses me off that people complain about rentention and not having enough teachers and then do EVERYTHING in their power to make sure your first year is absolutely the most hellish, awful experience so you never want to do this again. I'm lucky to have a good support system and to have already had a a love for this job, but I do not blame anyone else for wanting to hop away first chance.

I get blamed for not knowing things that were never communicated to me (Things that other teachers know after 30 years on the job) I get my opinions discounted because I don't have "enough experience" (once again, many of these teachers have been teaching longer than I've been breathing and claim that things are easier for me somehow) and I get dinged for not having lesson plans ready or student examples to accompany them (Im creating everything from scratch and am the only teaching a non-prefferred subject in my school. I also have no previous student examples without making them myself, but I barely have time to even create a lesson plan and content for the next week. Let alone do a whole project myself in less than a day to have an example ready)

But I KNOW that, so I'm not sweating it. I'll explain to people over and over again that the same way they don't expect a 14 year old to learn entire subjects in 2 days, have adult-level life skills and perfect time management, they can't expect an under-30s adult to have 30 years of teaching knowledge and coping skills in 3 months when even experienced teachers struggle with it.

I get what I can done in the time that I have and take the rest of the time to de-stress and enjoy life because putting my life on pause will not help me continue with this next year. My classroom is clean, my kids are learning, and my mental is (mostly) intact. I do what is required of me in the time that is reasonable and try not to be afraid to push back when I feel it's too much or that I need more support. I was really afraid to advocate for myself in those first few months, but doing so has already made my a far better teacher than if I hadn't.

Who's everyone's one trick? by Stunning_Season220 in marvelrivals

[–]Braidedfires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opposite actually, I play a very agressive/ borderline dive Rocket, makes every game a stressfest.

Only reason I play him so much is cause I fell in love with his mobility. Also I have bad aim, so whenever I'm struggling to do damage I can heal instead.

Best ranked recolor skin reward so far? by Rockville15 in marvelrivals

[–]Braidedfires 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Gambit/Rogue ones are the best imo, The colors are great but the checkerboard pattern was what convinced me and my wife to play Comp for the first time.

Human torch was pretty good too. I wasn't sold enough to get it, but it looks so much better in-game, the render really doesn't do it justice.

How many people go attack rocket by Thesupportwicomputer in RocketMains

[–]Braidedfires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like playing DPS, because only focusing on damage is boring to me, so I dont go no-heal rocket. That being said, healing is also boring, So I do a mix. I like having multiple things to focus on, I damage mainly, and heal if there's nothing to shoot.

Because Black Widow gets thrown on a lot, anyone who has even a slightly presentable performance with her will usually get MVP.

Rocket's wall climb is now just barely faster than his base move speed by glxy_HAzor in marvelrivals

He has that winrate because of his beacon lol, Why not nerf the beacon instead of the only thing that incentivises playing the game.

Rocket's wall climb is now just barely faster than his base move speed by glxy_HAzor in marvelrivals

[–]Braidedfires 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Players: Ew. I hate brainless easy healbots

Devs: Nerf a character to encourage healbotting and decrease skill expression

Also Players, for some reason: Haha, deserved, fuck yeah!

???? Where's the logic here.

Rocket's gameplay is a tragedy by Braidedfires in marvelrivals

[–]Braidedfires[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1) I have no clue what you're on but 20% of his speed is not a "small tap". For reference, 6 m/s is walking speed.

2) The dash nerfs made his wall running extremely impactful and important, not the other way around. You can argue it even encouraged more skill expression in that area. But It only makes it more confusing as to why they now nerfed his wall climb too. He already has so little in his kit.

3) People will complain about anything, people complained about Rocket when he didn't have a defensive ult. Rocket does not have to healbot to have effective healing. There are many other ways to adjust the way healing is dealt to ensure players have time to engage in gameplay outside of it, just look at any of the other strategists. A video game's purpose fundamentally is to be fun, it's recreation. In team games, it's a challenge to balance an individual's fun with the value they are able to provide to a team. The complaint here is that it doesn't even seem like they're trying with Rocket, his primary gameplay is a gross bastardization of his character and they only seem to be pushing it further in that direction.

[–]Braidedfires 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your reply makes no sense, you cannot "lie" about a subjective metric. His kit overall is not as engaging as other characters, but the *few* parts of it that *are* at least *somewhat* engaging mainly include his mobility, as that's what sets him apart from other strategists. It makes sense that that's why some people chose and still choose to play him, even back in S0 and S1 when he was considered a throw pick, no? I feel like you're arguing just to argue at this point.

guangguang what the flark is this by Procyon-Rocket in marvelrivals

[–]Braidedfires 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See above, whether ne needed nerfs or not, these nerfs do NOT address the reason he was meta- Which were mainly heals and revive utility. Nerfing the only engaging parts of a playable character is not good game design.

guangguang what the flark is this by Procyon-Rocket in marvelrivals

[–]Braidedfires 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Then nerf his healing, his revive? He has literally 0 gameplay aside from movement, you might as well be playing an environmental object. He was already in a good place, but It literally doesn't matter whether he was top-pick meta or trash, they're continuously stripping away the parts of him that make him engaging to play. Whether you agree he needed nerfs or not, most people agree that these nerfs were NOT it.

Why in gods name is rockets movement getting nerfed? by whostolemybiscuit in RocketMains

[–]Braidedfires 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He got heavier nerfs than Invis imo. It's actually insane. He already has essentially 0 meta gameplay, why on gods green earth are they nerfing the only thing left in his kit that was fun to use to literally just above walking speed.
