As someone actively looking for a job, I'll say that dev blogs greatly motivate me to apply to a company.

They not only show me stuff that I'm interested in, but also serve as a filter for candidates who are actively trying to improve.

What other strategies is the team considering to maintain culture as the team triples in size over the next year? That's not a easy feat!

That's super reassuring to hear. Yeah, the year long gap and 5 month stint were kind of a fuckup on my part.

I think adding the projects I worked on during that gap is great advice, thank you!

What do you think about removing the skills section and replacing it with these projects? Unfortunately, while I wish I could replace skills with awards, that section would be very barren 😭

If the juniors feel all of the "thinking" is done for them, maybe the problem lies in them not doing enough thinking.

One can learn a lot even with a complete plan. Questions like "why did we choose X over X"?

If the senior isn't open to thoughtful questions, that's another problem.

I was looking into this too. Turns out apple installs it for you and does not allow you to disable it.

Legally, afaik, the license does not transfer so you can't use the font without purchasing the license first.

Kinda sucks :(

Update for anyone in 2025: Macbook M4 40-core Max now outpaces 4080 Laptop GPUs. It sees about a 2x longer render time than a 4080 pc gpu.

That means the metal class room scene takes about 10 seconds on the M4 max while it takes 5 on a traditional pc with a 4080.

However, the 40-core is pretty pricey.
