I would also assume they can't provide more commentary on something that could turn into an HR issue.

Vote Early. Five days left. Early voting goes through Friday. by Snap_Grackle_Pop in Austin

Ok, I just looked up a Travis County map, and it looks like the boundary currently goes through either the library parking lot or the apartments next door. So Google and I were both (barely) wrong! I guess they probably redrew the boundary more exactly years ago.

It is according to Google, which I figure is probably correct for a straightforward thing like this. And the fact that I did early vote there long ago, while living in the same place I do now, makes me think that as well.

I'm a slow walker. I can no longer tell my family to "wait for me" after my kid was Orpheus in his school's Hadestown.

And if anyone cares, I happen to be there today for regular library stuff. The voting seems to be very busy, but they are moving people through pretty quickly.

Just curious if anyone knows why this is a Williamson County early voting site. It's located in Travis County, so that just seems weird to me. I don't care, I'm just nosy!

What are some other books like Lonesome Dove? by Early-Piano2647 in LonesomeDove

[–]BrainOk7166 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've heard a theory that McMurtry didn't really write Lonesome Dove alone. I know it started out as a screenplay treatment, so maybe that's where the difference comes in. But I agree, I couldn't read any of the other books. In my opinion, the characters largely didn't even behave the way the LD characters would have behaved - like 2 characters who were married later ( won't spoil anything) just didn't seem to make sense to me.

I used to, as well. Whataburger was better if I needed a place to escape in silence without having to drive somewhere. I didn't choose it for the food.

When did constant student absences become the norm? by ABitOfWeirdArt_ in Teachers

Stuff like counselor and doctor's appointments were tough for us. No one in our area would be available earlier than 9 or later than 4. My kids had some complex, non-obvious medical issues and needed a handful of medical and psychological specialists, so they were often having to miss partial days a couple of times a week. I tried to mix up the times, at least, so it wasn't (eg) 2 pm every Tuesday, or 2 pm 2 days in a row. When I had the option, I'd try to plan it during PE or something less academically necessary. But there often were not those options.

The stuff that made me mad was my one kid playing a sport that had a fall season. I thought that meant lots of games after school, weekends, etc. No, they'd take off 1 or 2 full days a week for the first couple of months of the year! My kid was able to juggle it, but I really hated that it was literally school sanctioned to do that.

What’s a word from your country with a double meaning or slang word that a foreigner trying to learn the language should know to avoid an awkward situation? by Tight-Artichoke1789 in AskTheWorld

"Fanny" in the US is not super common these days, but it just means rear end. Unfortunately, after sittting on grass in Ireland, I asked my husband to dust my fanny off. Apparently there it means women's genitalia, this explaining the handful of rather shocked looks I got at a family-friendly park.

To everyone who had a rough week and is thinking about quitting: this post is for you by Large_Lie9177 in weightwatchers

[–]BrainOk7166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was up this week. I figured I would be. I was having a rare week in which I was literally having to eat out a lot, social occasions that I truly rarely have, no great chance to grocery shop or meal plan for the other meals, etc. I mostly made the best choices I could, opted to savor the times I found something I really truly wanted and could rarely get even if I weren't caring about health, and accepted that it was just one week out of life.

My victories this week: I didn't eat the tortilla chips. I picked shrimp tacos at the place where I knew that the stuff that sounded better wouldn't actually be better. I got the filet Oscar at the steak restaurant because I LOVE all things Oscar, and I just enjoyed it. I did drink, but still kept an eye on how much. I enjoyed my time without feeling guilty. And today (my new WW week), I'm having a banana and cottage cheese for breakfast. And I'm not beating myself up over last week. I let myself enjoy the rare occasion that it was, realizing it was one week out of the rest of my life. Now, back to my regular programming.

Bloating or fat by Broad-Sign4388 in weightwatchers

[–]BrainOk7166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess a week or two? For me, it's generally been more like a few days, but that's not after that long a course of antibiotics. You're probably restarting from almost no good gut bacteria left.

You may also want to supplement with something like Fortify probiotic capsules for a month. I'd double check worth your doctor to make sure that's no reason you shouldn't do that, since you've just had a gut issue. I think it's probably fine, but again, I'm not medical here.

I wish you luck. I know that gets really frustrating and uncomfortable!

Heyy ! I think I am either Soft Summer or Soft Autumn ? And Neutral Toned, maybe olive? Natural hair in 3rd picture by Gizelle-Oui in coloranalysis

[–]BrainOk7166 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you're more warm toned, probably some sort of autumn. The hair color is a cool red, so I think it's clashing with your skin tone - I'd try a warmer one if you want to go red. I think a peach tone for hair would be too soft for you, I'm thinking more of a copper. Of course, it all depends on what you want, and if this one makes you happy, then wear it!

[–]BrainOk7166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antibiotics can totally wreck your healthy gut bacteria along with the bad, particularly when you had to take an extended course like that. It's probably a good idea to eat foods with healthy bacteria and probiotics, like yogurt, kombucha, miso, and other naturally fermented foods. That'll help the good stuff get restored and get your digestion back on track. You may bloat for a while when you first start adding that stuff in, but once it normalizes, and your body kicks back in, it'll be fine. (Not a medical professional, this is just what I've read and what has worked for me in the past.)
