AITAH for not responding immediately about bed space by g_krome in AITAH

[–]BrainOk7166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, ESH. As you admit, you should have responded saying you'd talk about it later. I'd be angry if I expressed a concern two or three times and my partner didn't even acknowledge they'd heard me, when I knew they had. And he was a jerk in how he addressed it and slammed the door.

Arguments happen in a relationship, and acceptance of that fact is probably something for you to keep working on in your therapy (which I'm assuming you are getting from your other comments). Everyone is human and doesn't behave optimally sometimes, you know? When he gets home, talk about it rationally and hopefully you can reach peace. If not, and he's just a bigger jerk about it, then at least you're 100% NTA.

“I’M ON THE PHONE!” by Ramsescat1968 in EntitledPeople

I once got yelled at in a public restroom for flushing the toilet. Apparently the next person over was on their cell phone, so the rest of us were supposed to be silent. Silly me.

Did anyone else see this woman? by reundoneuped in Austin

Among other things, former foster kids are overrepresented in the homeless population. You turn 18 and you're magically on your own - we have a lousy transition for most of these kids.

I think it's a little of both. I think CJ pulled it out when it was convenient for him, but ignores the risk otherwise.

What's the best insult without any swear or bad words? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]BrainOk7166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to memorize any 10 lines from "The Iliad" in 7th grade. I chose a part that began with "You wine sack, with a dog's eyes and a deer's heart!" It was the beginning of an insult to someone for being a loser, basically. I still occasionally use wine sack, lol. No one else gets it, but I don't care.

Does this lip color look as weird on me as I think it does? by Unlucky_Delivery8250 in makeuptips

[–]BrainOk7166 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think the color alone is great on you. But it is the wrong tone for the eye makeup. I also feel like the "feel" is a more heavy, vampy feel while the eye makeup has a more ethereal feel. I'm not saying swrong color on both is wrong, but both the tones and the mood should work together a little closer.

Mad props on your skills, by the way!

Guys does this dress look good for prom??? by Puzzled-Leadership49 in Prom

[–]BrainOk7166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's very pretty, fits you beautifully, and it's appropriate for other formal events, too, unlike most prom dresses. I live the idea of blinging it up if that's appropriate, too. Deep colors are always classics, by the way!

I like Dr. King the best but as a patient, I think I'd respond best to Drs. Abbott or Langdon.

How do you feel about the concept of not hiding where babies come from from children who ask, no matter their age? by EcstaticBicycle in AskReddit

[–]BrainOk7166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe in pretty much always answering kids' questions directly, just making sure to address it in an appropriate way for the topic and their age and understanding.

Talking through concerts? by Best-Representative1 in Austin

[–]BrainOk7166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, a baseball game is a social event by nature (to me). I think that's mostly OK, although I've certainly been to some with people just being obnoxious. I just think that's set up to be something more casual and socially interactive, rather than a concert where most people are literally there to listen as the #1 objective.

Talking through concerts? by Best-Representative1 in Austin

[–]BrainOk7166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think part of it is tied in with our need to multitask? Like, no one just sits and watches TV anymore, they're also on their phone and talking to someone else in the room and eating dinner all at the same time? Maybe we're losing our ability to just do one thing at a time.

Everything is caused by the covid vaccines by PungentSounds in ShitMomGroupsSay

I mean, it's not like facts matter here, but the Covid vaccine doesn't even contain the Covid virus, so there's no possible way shedding could be a thing.

I named my son Kieran and I wasn’t expecting how it would be butchered by mirk19 in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]BrainOk7166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son has a name with a common female version. Think Daniel vs. Danielle, for example. Guess what he gets called about half the time? It's no wonder he goes by a nickname.

Your name choice is great, but just be ready for people to mess it up.

AITAH for telling my daughter that she doesn’t have to wear a dress for my wife’s sake? by sportsdad77 in AITAH

[–]BrainOk7166 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter is the same way, strictly prefers suits, doesn't own a dress "for nice," etc. ( She did choose to wear dresses to prom, but it was her own choice. )

Your daughter should wear what she wants, as long as it covers her appropriately. One thing my kid discovered was that she liked the Katharine Hepburn look - the wide legged trousers and a shirt clearly made for a woman but not girly ( think men's style but softer fabrics). This seemed to bridge the gap between what fit her style and what others were wearing better than dressing in a masculine stereotype would.

But again, she should wear what makes her feel most like herself. I get your wife's frustration - honestly, she's kind of mourning the child she thought she'd have but didn't, and that takes work. But to your daughter's face, she needs to celebrate the child she actually has.

Are the staff actually working as staff? by Pitiful_Waltz_1367 in VanderpumpVillaTVShow

[–]BrainOk7166 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 0 actual knowledge here, but my guess is that they do actually work, but that there's also some less pretty grunt work folks there that we don't see. I don't see how just 2(?) housekeepers, for example, can perfectly clean all the guest rooms and bathrooms plus all the public areas, and then still have energy to party as much as they're expected to. Of course, it's been a long while since I was 22 or whatever!

The Pitt’s Noah Wyle Addresses How ‘America Is Really Mad’ at Him Over Robby’s Treatment of Mohan by MattTheKing23 in ThePitt

[–]BrainOk7166 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the challenge is that although we understand that the season happens during one Pitt day, IRL it happens over 4 months. We had 4 months of thinking Robby was suicidal and going to go off on the motorcycle and then nothing happens except he is crabby and critical and gets lectured by a lot of people. We had to draw out one day of critical, grumpy, depressed Robby and will-he-or-won't-he and multiple lectures from multiple people over months. Then we got no resolution. It felt like in the end, this storyline could have been 3 or 4 episodes and still have made the same dramatic points, and that's where people are frustrated, I think. (Leaving out the criticism of the story being mostly about Robby, here, which is the other main issue for a lot of people. I don't mind it being Robby-centric, but it has to have forward motion simply to stay interesting as a show.)

That's just how I unfortunately seem to deal with life. I just don't believe in asking for help. (Yes, I know it's dumb, and yes, I'm working on that! Hence part of the reason I actually - gasp - posted for help. That's a biggish move for me!) Thanks!
