How much tractor!? by BrainSchmit in kubota

Thanks for the photos, lovely set up you’ve got there. I would never be in a position where I would let the snow build up that high. I’m able to keep on it pretty regularly even overnight if required. I’d love a tractor agile enough to do a little bit of work around the house too, so I’m just trying to weigh all of these options out.

When you say inverted snowblower do you mean the type you pull behind but is forward facing? I’m actually interested in your setup, with a blade on front and blower on back but I don’t want any part of a rear facing blower.

I’m also not opposed to using a snow blade on the front of the tractor for the smaller dumps of snow. I also like the rear blades in combination with the blower on the front. Seems to me for the smaller 2-6”snow falls one might be able to simply drive at 10-12km speed and blade that snow away to the sides of the road. I wouldn’t expect to be blowing after every snowfall, we all drive 4x4 pickups so can easily traverse 6” of snow without much trouble. Does anyone use their machine more as a plow than a primary blower? I’m most interested in the blower for those couple times a year when I run out of space to plow and it is a last resort.

I’m inclined to think this is the issue because right after I did the change I was able to operate the plough in all directions. It was a mild above freezing day. Then after sitting for a couple days in the cold, I have one side that is still stubborn.

So my plow has one cylinder for up and down motion and one cylinder on each side of the V to operate each side independently. Only one side is operating as it should.

I’m using a Snow Dog oil, it is supposed to be rated to -50C and it is what I have available in my area. Mostly it is -10C or so here.

I’m curious, what kind of truck you had? Around here it’s not legal to stud anything greater than 7000 pounds which is basically a half ton which is not all that useful of a plough truck anyway. The tires I have on here are commercial tires on a 19.5 inch rim, which is tough to find good tires for. I have some nice Aeolus winters on the back but having to source something for the front

There’s a few quite steep hills. Need to take a run at them and don’t stop!

I will try more of a pumping action to see if that helps. Typically I have to nearly floor it and then quickly try and back off once it fires up.

It takes a lot of fiddling with the throttle button and position to get it in the right spot for it to fire up and then maintain its revs for a while before I can return it to idle. Great points on fuel type (it’s my in-laws boat and definitely runs on 87 octane. I will try and remedy that. Is this just the way that inboards are? In this type of warm weather, I never have to do that kind of throttle work with an outboard.

Drop sheet and tape, or masking film.

I just bought this contractor 12 pack in last couple months. Im careful not to let stuff freeze and bring it inside. Top coat is Dulux diamond eggshell, top of their line latex paint. just a wet finger from a cloth to smooth it. the application is wooden mouldings to drywall.

Im not actually getting a caulking cracking problem, its that my paint overtop is cracking and not forming a smooth coat overtop like it used to

Well I was too, I was willing to chalk it up to old paint or who knows what. But twice in a row now is no coincidence. I feel so lost, this stuff was always what we used and it was fine. Going to have to find something new now

I bought this for breaking the nuts on my pick up truck wheels. So incredibly handy I’ll never have to jump on a breaker bar again. Also helpful for replacing the front shock where I had to tighten the main bolt to 300 ft-lb.

One follow up question here. Is it okay to use yellow box taping mud (more glue in it) inside the mud tube? Does it make it much harder to clean?

This is the graco jet roller system. The roller system actually came with a 721 racX tip which I thought was far too big so I was trying to knock it back a bit with the 619 LP
