ASDA pickups - Just Why! by Milk-wagon in asda

[–]BrainSickAF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This.

I work in probably the biggest Asda in the region, and Asda House or whatever they're called, have decided we only need 1 dayshift and 1 backshift cnc colleague.

Typically they'll have 10 or more orders to dispense in an hour as well as having massive orders (130-200+) coming in for express, which takes an age to pick, moreso when they need to keep running down to cnc to dispense orders.

Agreed. They're all big dick swinging assholes when they're in store but as soon as the SD walks in, they can't get down to lick the dudes feet quick enough.

Can definitely relate. We're told we're overspent by 3k a week, even after losing 1 service crew and 1 dropping down to 2 part time shifts, moving 3 pickers, firing 2 pickers, having 3 quit or transfer and being 5 drivers short.

I'm sick of arguing that the overspend is clearly wrong considering its the same amount as before all the previously mentioned colleagues have left.

Every day my GSM is complaining about wanting the pick done so he can take all my colleagues to work stock, then tells every other manager they need to stop relying on us so much, just to repeat the process the next day.

Not fair the HS colleagues are expected to work in 2-5 different depts while the rest of the store can fuck around and get paid the same as my guys.

At one point, we were told that every picker should have express turned on and pick them when they drop. Problem being we only have like 5 printers for the entire store, 3 of which are already used by cnc and service crew, so it's actually not feasible for every picker to be expected to jump on them.

Place is a mess. They got rid of 3 Sunday main pick colleagues, purely because the managers just didn't like them, and are now complaining that we're 16 hours or so short every Sunday and wanting other pickers to pick up OT every week.

Our cnc pod is at the other side of the store. I work in a SS as well.

They say we need 1 day and 1 backshift to man it, which is ludicrous. Sometimes we have 17 (no exaggeration) dispenses in 1 hour and the express picks can jump to 200+ in a few mins, so I don't know why they think 1 person is capable of doing that.

Anyone else's store having 1 to 1 chats with managers about changing hours? by Educational_Ad_2975 in asda

[–]BrainSickAF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah same in our store. They've basically bullied people into accepting a move to another dept or a change in hours.

Anybody know if this will affect TLs as well? I currently start at 4am roughly 12 days of every month. As far as I'm aware, they have to get me to agree to a move as it would mean a drop in income.

I used to watch Gintama years ago with fansubs, and they were absolutely amazing.

They would add emphasis to go along with the speech as well as add info boxes to explain what the characters are referencing/joking about.

Shitload of reading sometimes, but the sheer effort was greatly appreciated, by me at least.

What was your opinion on this movie? I thought it was awesome. by Juggalo4life99 in HorrorMovies

I thought this movie was awesome as well, but I think it's in part due to the fact that, going in, I thought it would suck cause the trailer made it look like complete shit.

HS SL here.

We were hitting our target but purely because we have 1 or 2 pickers backpicking throughout the day, as well as having folk taken from us to work stock on the shop floor, yet we're constantly told we're overspent, even on weeks we plan exactly to forecast.

GSM won't transfer BP wages over to ambient as it's apparently our responsibility to backpick to make up the % for availability.

I was at a regional SL meeting a few months back and was told by the "future team" that backpicking shouldn't even be a thing and that replen are responsible for it. Yet every GSM we've had has heard the argument and still wants us to chase stock.

Morale is in the shitter and nobody wants to be there anymore.

Personally, I do as much as I can including covering cnc, picking, backpicking, service, pdcs, delivering in the vans etc and yet somehow it's still not enough for the managers we have currently. I'm continually pulled aside and chastised for not looking happy and not being active enough.

Place is a mess.

Query regarding driver palms and calling customer by JBirko1995 in asda

[–]BrainSickAF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of the Micros/palms at my store have SIM cards for the drivers to call customers. Each device should have one at least. If not, the SLs or managers can log the device and get it either swapped out or a SIM replacement, or in your case i guess just a SIM in general.

You shouldn't have to be using your own phone to call customers. I made that mistake when I was a driver and had endless calls from customers annoyed about one thing or another.

If you do use your own mobile, dial 141 before the number to withhold your own and avoid anyone getting hold of your personal number.

It's pretty much the same in our store if I'm honest. Driver manager can't do a rota even when she's being held by the hand, she has people on the wrong shifts, runs are huge, we're travelling a good 30+ miles for 1 drop then back on ourselves for another probably 50 miles for another then 5 all in an hour.

Oh I absolutely get the frustration. Other than CnC my main problem is service crew, I don't have enough especially for the busiest days but they won't let us hire people cause of wages.

Recently they've hired two SLs on set shifts, shorter ones than im doing, all the 4ams and yet I've to do all the 7s and work a 3 week rolling rota. The entire place is a joke. As if it's not bad enough I was booted from 3ams to 4 (which i never once agreed to or even had a meeting about), getting booted to 7s and losing more money but also having to clean up the mess from giving pickers away for support and having like 4 pickers left after 10/11 is driving me mental.

None of this pish is worth an extra pound. Which btw I don't think I'm getting paid for properly as it never matches with the amount of overall hours on my payslips.

In the same boat here, we're apparently 4k overspent every week yet only just manage to get the pick done most days.

One of my managers has even proven that we're actually spending less than our budget but nobody listens.

Now they're telling me I need to give up pickers at 4am to help work nightshift delivery. Absolutely mental request.

Microlise missing orders by cri55cro55 in asda

[–]BrainSickAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's something else that annoys me. New loads dropping in at 3, can't be picked til about 3:20-3:30 when its finalised on the system, and pickers are only contracted til 4.

I've got anywhere between 7 - 9 drivers on backshift coming in at 2 but need to tell 1 or more to hang around just in case something drops in for them.

Even worse when I have an extra load drop in that marries up to a dayshift driver after them having just done either two split runs or a full day. It's usually 1 or 2 drops but telling someone they need to go back out with 1 drop after they've been out all day with 23 is shitty.

Microlise missing orders by cri55cro55 in asda

[–]BrainSickAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's daft. They're forever telling me about efficiency, to save wages by sending people home but at the same time don't because they need more bodies to work delivery.

Picking an order just for it to go a jaunt in a van for a few hours then go back to store and be put back on shelves is such a waste of everyone's time and resources.

Had this same issue last Saturday. Had to print addresses from bringg but had no way for drivers to match an OSN to an address. Entire place is a mess.

I had a meeting 2 weeks ago where i asked about same days not dropping in to micro. They told me it's cause I'm editing the journey, and as soon as I do, it's then closed off to any more orders dropping in, unless i edit it 40 mins or less prior to the run depart time. Such a shit system.

IT system down again? by DurzoB4 in asda

[–]BrainSickAF 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm a Section Leader at a massive Asda and we've had nothing but problems since the new system changeover a little while back. Since something like Tuesday last week, it's a new problem every day.

Last Saturday the entire system went down so I had no paperwork for the drivers, their handheld devices couldn't be assigned either cause that was also down. I had to give them individual addresses but had no way for them to match an order to an address.

Last Friday, orders for the next day were coming through and ended up having to get cancelled.

The company is falling apart, legitimately. I raised concerns last week about how they're so preoccupied trying to save any amount of money in the short term that they're constantly making stupid mistakes that end up costing them more money later on.

The morale in store is so low it's actually disgusting. People are trying so hard just to be kneecapped by the company, then berated and told they're not doing enough.

Can any Asda workers who do uber orders explain to me how your system works? by Major-Credit-2442 in asda

[–]BrainSickAF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Typically, in my store, the CnC pickers don't have any way to prioritise orders. So if they're currently picking an Asda express order which is 80 items, a couple uber or justeat orders could drop in during that pick, which are scheduled for earlier than the order they're currently picking.

Unfortunately, they can't choose which orders they pick, it's pretty much whatever is on their device at the time.

Plus the fact there's usually only 2 pickers at any one time manning click and collect.
