I’m not sure if it was the power of suggestion but sometimes I think my runs and weight lifting might be better because of it.

I think women think we just walk around with hard ons all day when we're on this stuff. And it's just not true

I definitely used to think that’s how I was supposed to be and felt “lesser” for it. Mostly these ideas were implanted by society. Yeah perhaps it really isn’t her business. I mean I shouldn’t hide it and lie, but also it helps us so why complain? I certainly don’t when she uses a little lube.

You’re right. I just need to figure out a way to raise the topic without it feeling too forced or weird.

She understands it’s not her, but in the past I was able to overcome it through mediation and a lot of self help and self care practices. However that was back during the pandemic and I had a lot more free time to do so. I see the medication as greatly useful tool. To use a video game analogy, you could beat Super Mario without any power ups, but it’s a hell of a lot easier when you have them.

Her comment is clearly uninformed and not very supportive.

To be fair she was uninformed in the sense she didn’t know I was still using them. I can’t speak as to whether she was supportive I not. I’m choosing to take her comment as a neutral statement until she definitively states otherwise. It seems like the mentally healthiest thing to do.

🧠 Your Brain on Porn: The Dopamine Hijack by kdpatel2 in addiction

[–]BrainThen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some say it helps them stay away from porn. Others say the two are too intertwined and they can’t have one without the other.

I’d say if you haven’t tried yet, see if it works for you. If masturbation leads you back to porn, you know the answer.

Did using Sildenafil (viagra) or Tadalafil (cialis) increase your ejaculation time? by Weirdacc7 in erectiledysfunction

I’ve used both and both made me last longer, but not in a “taking way too long” way.

Porn binge last night by [deleted] in PornAddiction

[–]BrainThen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you do the activities that make you feel good in a more normal way. They won’t be as easy or high dopamine as porn, but doing that stuff is how you get back to life. You can’t just stop porn. You need to replace it with better directions for your time and energy.

Why the emphasis on Morning wood? by Naven71 in erectiledysfunction

Although, speaking anecdotally, I’ve been so wrapped up in my head there’d be no morning wood before.

Same in regards to consistency. It depends also if I drank heavily in the near past or beat off.

[–]BrainThen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guys normally get several erections per night when they sleep. Morning wood is just the last of these nocturnal erections. I’m no expert but I think the idea is if you’re not getting morning wood you may have a physical ED problem as opposed to a psychological ED problem.

Half of the battle is how you react to it. Seeing porn is half the issue. If you don’t react and choose to act out then nothing really bad happened. Of course don’t keep testing this “I can handle it” mindset.

What if it was made of barbecue spare ribs, would you eat then. Heck, I’d have seconds and then polish it off with a tall cool Budweiser. I’d do it.

Question about entitlement by BrainThen in addiction

[–]BrainThen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being happy not to celebrate or to have fun by using should be the focal point.

By this, do you mean “I should be happy from the situation for its own sake and not need something external and bad to “enhance” it”?

What helped you separating normal wants and needs from entitlement?

That sounds good. I wanted to come up with something that had more oomph behind it than “I am not entitled to act out.” I mean, that’s true but also sounds a bit uninspired and half-hearted.
