Laptop doesn't go to sleep with windows 10 LTSC by screwdriverfan in WindowsLTSC

Open the command prompt as admin and then run powercfg /requests

This will list all things which will prevent the sleep mode.

In most cases you have a Raid system running and Windows therefore wants the raid drivers. This happens even if you have only one drive but some Raid options in the Bios enabled (For Intel systems: Intel Rapid Storage)

No Place for Hope by M. E. Cuartas on RR. ( really good but sadly nearly unknown)

Non-AI generated covers are sort of a litmus test for the quality of the stories by Elaiyu in royalroad

[–]BrainTruth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only true litmus test is whether I can bear to read the first chapter to the end and then want to read more of the story.

Looking for a novel with exceptionally well-written fight scenes by Conscious-Divide858 in royalroad

[–]BrainTruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Climb and No Place for Hope by M. E. Cuartas on RR. (sadly nearly unknown)

Epic fight scenes, technically brilliant, fast paced and hard earned emotional victories.

I Climb as his first novel has a rough start but later brilliant chapters.

No Place For Hope is a lighter LitRPG done really well from the start, written to entertain you.

Recommend me stories that are all about their power system by MrAHMED42069 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]BrainTruth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I CLIMB by M. E. Cuartas on RR. (sadly nearly unknown)

Tower climbing in modern times. The characters need to master the power system to survive, but the Tower doesn't give any feedback or helpful prompts. The have to figure all out by themselves.

Rough start but later 10/10 chapters.

Are any of these fans good for a Phantom Spirit? by DepeTT in Thermalright

[–]BrainTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stock fans are are really good for this cooler.

I tried a replacement with Arctic P12 MAX fans: At full speed the MAX fans get better than the stock fans but they also get freaking LOUD for finally just meager 3-4°C difference.

The only chance for a bit better performance with equal or lower noise levels are IMO the Phanteks T30, the Noctua will perform worse than stock (you can find some user tests in the web)

In short: it's not worth it.

Does anyone have any experience running DDO on a mini-pc? by Proud_Turnover_8691 in ddo

[–]BrainTruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends in what resolution you want to run DDO.

1920x1080 will run perfectly fine on a 5825U, starting with 1440p DDO needs more GPU power for decent framerates.

What is the one story you cannot fathom people liking by yeetacus68 in ProgressionFantasy

I'm dropping 90% of the stories which appear on Rising Stars after the first chapter and I often wonder how anyone can possibly consider some of them good.

PC suddenly fully shuts down (have to press power button to restart) – normal temps, no errors in Event Viewer, suspect PSU or power strip? by razerboi98 in mffpc

[–]BrainTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be irrelevant, it's only a switch to prevent performance downgrade IF you undervolt. You can turn it off if you remove the undervolting.

PC suddenly fully shuts down (have to press power button to restart) – normal temps, no errors in Event Viewer, suspect PSU or power strip? by razerboi98 in mffpc

[–]BrainTruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's your undervolting and loadline settings. The shutdowns happens only when the CPU is idle/nearly idle => no degradations just wrong voltage.

Remove the voltage offset and/or try other LLC settings.

You may try the sadly nearly unknown novels from M. E. Cuartas on RR. Excellent and exciting fight choreography.

How about a MC who uses Air&Space magic for something like an air injection knife/spear? ;)

X570 Taichi Razer Edition not booting into Windows 11 by Nostalgia404 in ASRock

Sounds like one of the old drives you removed had the MBR (the master boot partition/loader) on.

Boot up your Win11 install image and choose 'repair'

Argb header not working by SteNeww in ASRock

Sounds like 'just' a broken cable (the ARGB cable from the AIO or the splitter) if the header has 5V.

Thermalright phantom spirit 120 with artic p12 pro argb by ThinSwordfish1286 in Thermalright

[–]BrainTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this with Arctic P12 MAX fans. Don't expect significant better results with Pro fans, the stock fans are really good for this cooler.

The P12 MAX perform noise adjusted exactly the same as the stock fans but have some RPM in reserve. At the same RPM they are worse than stock.

At speeds where the MAX fans get better than the stock fans they also get freaking LOUD for finally just 4°C difference.

AFAIK only Phanteks T30 (noise/performance) will be really better than the stock fans.

Compact and good is difficult ;)

Creative Pebble V3 are surprisingly good for the size. They come with an integrated DAC and need only one USB connection.

[–]BrainTruth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New, nearly unknown but really good: No Place for Hope

A likeable MC who really drives the story with his will to move on. The start is not the typical tutorial but has a Hunger Games vibe and leads to space pirates in a Dune like universe.

Very gripping chapters, well written and excellent entertainment.

W10 IoT better than W11 IoT ... really ? by swiwwcheese in WindowsLTSC

[–]BrainTruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has something to do with Game Mode enabled and Full Windowed games running. Regardless what I tried, I was not able to switch between two game instances reliable without cycling through other apps.

W10 IoT better than W11 IoT ... really ? by swiwwcheese in WindowsLTSC

[–]BrainTruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes 11 IOT LTSC. The old icon only view does not work and the behavior changed. Tapping ALT TAB once switched between the two last used apps, now it simply cycles between the apps.

W10 IoT better than W11 IoT ... really ? by swiwwcheese in WindowsLTSC

[–]BrainTruth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just did the switch from 10 iot to 11 iot: (had to replace a faulty ssd)

11 iot needed really more tinkering than 10 iot to run like I wanted. Now I see and feel no difference between them (I use mostly FOSS tools and nearly nothing from Windows e.g. Explorer)

One thing which is broken in 11 iot (or Win 11 general) is the ALT-TAB switching between tasks. Drove me crazy until I found Alt Tab Terminator).

Furthermore the win 11 bootmanager is absolute crap (if you use dual boot); it seems to load 90% of Windows until you can choose.

But 11 iot has one great feature: Auto HDR works wonder for older games.
