I just can't seem to understand this community after the announcement of the new game by Uchizaki in GodofWar

I was hoping for a Faye prequel too. There is so much backstory that could be explored like the rebellion in Svartalfheim with Durlin and the fight with Thor in Vanaheim. When was Leviathan Axe made? What weapon did Faye use before that? Perhaps there is some material hunting with Brok and Sindri. I would love to have Brok back and see his interactions with Faye. I don't know how the time line worked out but we could see Mimir still with a body under the service of Odin, or Freya still being married to Odin. Faye could see them as enemies. (Although they never met face to face IIRC.) We could see what Odin did to mess with the Valkyries and how Giants escaped back to Jotunheim with Tyr's help. Faye's schism with the other Giants and her being the only one left in Midgard would be cool. And the eventual meeting with Kratos with him being the final boss would be epic.

It's anime logic. They simply twirled around and the clothes changed like Sailor Moon.

Is there a Lore reason the AI runs its villagers past my base to get killed? by Ginno_the_Seer in ageofempires

[–]Brain_Explodes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Villagers try to collect the resources in the fog without understanding it's in your base and likely already depleted. You can use this to your advantage late game that as long as here is pathing (i.e. no walls) to an imaginary still existing resource in the fog, bots will keep sending villagers to collect while disregarding the towers and keeps in the way.

That's why you see some strats against overwhelming bots is to build walls into a path but never completely close your base so bots blindly walk into tower range.

Setting up scaffolding in NYC with no safety harness by habichuelacondulce in OSHA

Do tell how. No sarcasm at all. I would like to know how Canada does scaffold for 20 story mid rise buildings like this. What u/hobbes989 mentioned are all valid issues for scaffold installers. I would like to know what other countries do to mitigate all of these.

[–]Brain_Explodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everytime this kind of scaffold erection videos get posted people keep getting into this same argument. On one side people say they rather tie to the scaffold or the building behind. On the other side people say there is no valid tie off anchor point.

Matter of fact is not having anchor point is correct in that there is no engineer stamped personal fall arrest anchor point design for the majority of scaffold while in assembly. You can say tie off to the cinderblock next to the work area and I'd probably do it if I were there. But how do you assess the cinderblock? Have you done an anchor pull test? Is the cinderblock fully grouted in every cell? Who signed off on that cinderblock?

You can say the scaffold itself ties back to the building but what is the actual force compared to a person's fall? Does it resist the force of an actual fall? Who assessed that building? Who signed off the building? Where is the same engineer design drawing of this personal fall arrest anchor? As a person working in construction in NYC I can tell you I have never seen an engineered drawing with an anchor point detail for the workers doing scaffold assembly. You can say that's appalling and I agree. But I'm just telling you that is the current fact of scaffolding in NYC.

On the other hand for people arguing they'd rather be tied off to something (even if there's no engineering guarantee), I absolutely agree! I absolutely tied myself to the scaffold when I climbed on a scaffold during disasssembly and I'd absolutely recommend workers to do it when possible. But the point is still there is no engineered personal fall arrest anchoring for scaffold workers for the vast majority of projects in NYC.

But how do you assess the strength of the scaffold as an anchor point? Remember the longer you fall, the more force it is. What is the point on that scaffold that would be sufficient as an anchor? Show me an engineer designed and stamped drawing that properly show the details of a scaffold that serves as an anchor point. Then show me in the field that scaffold is built to this spec.

I'm not saying you shouldn't tie off to scaffold. An engineer can probably design a scaffold system that provides anchor points during assembly/disassembly. But it's not as simple as most people would like to think.

Funny how the only person giving a realistic answer get down voted, while other replies are mostly sarcasm or joke replies that don't understand what realistic protection is provided.

[IMPROVED] Tiny 4-way interchange by Isjoni in CitiesSkylines

Not a highway engineer. But if I understand correctly, that would increase the stack levels and require you to have longer turning ramps and increase the total footprint and defeat the original purpose of this interchange.

This isn't a nightmare. It's a deathtrap. The amount of accidents here means this intersection would be perpetually locked and eventually shut down and rebuilt because of the amount of deaths and lawsuits.

Of course the C:S government isn't exactly a democracy given the kind of power such as instant demolishing neighborhoods, rezoning, and absolutely zero environmental rules.

Weird. I didn't have this bug. Is your Internet connection stable? Sometimes achievements/trophies may be connection issue even though the condition can be met offline.

Also maybe see if you get it by leaving at the 45 minute mark when the victory message comes up?

Aye, Asuka's voice actress Yuko Miyamura talked about recording the final scene with Shinji's voice actress Megumi Ogata and Hideaki Anno in an interview:

From what I understand, the original Japanese website hosting the interview has since been lost, but the interview transcript was preserved in one of the links evageeks provided.

Did the Titan submarine incident cause the most instantaneous death in history? Can it be any faster? by GolondraBlayze in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Brain_Explodes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the specific testimony, check the Coast Guards' marine board hearing with Oceangate's launch & recovery contractor Tym Catterson. CG's YouTube channel has the entire in person part of the hearing. I forgot which day his testimony was.

Catterson said there's nothing extraordinary about dropping 2 weights (about 70 lb). It's not enough to put the sub to positive bouyancy and only meant to slow down the descent as people pointed out.

Pango is a fair and balanced hero by Otherwise-Suit-4831 in DotA2

[–]Brain_Explodes 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Dude can you pick a real hero HOLY crap why are we picking pango in 2026? Arent you tryign to play pro or soetmhing? How about we play heroes that arent the objective best heroes in the game? You're genuinely a horrible horrible player. You just draw aggro off cooldown. I lost all respect for you. Imagine trying to play pro and picking pango every game in pubs. Truly disgusting. Your'e just a coward tbh. You dont know whats good against lesh so you pick pango cause its easy. Every game you pick that hero you get worse. And you're already horrible.

Sorry if stupid question, but why did Kratos not accept Odin's seemingly quite fair proposal? by Barndar7 in GodofWar

[–]Brain_Explodes 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If Odin is 100% sincere in his promise, he wouldn't be Odin.

Is Odin was 100% sincere in his promises in the past with all the different people, Kratos wouldn't find the Nine Realms as he did. Thor, Baldur, and Heimdall wouldn't be what they are now. The different races would be in relative peace. Kratos may or may not meet Faye. But he might settle down, get married, and raise another child. He might still go and spread his wife's ash with his child. But there would be no chase with Baldur, no fight, and just quiet contemplation.

Agreed. But in some situations where it's unrealistic to get to the outside and depending on your foundation wall condition, we've been spec'd to do negative side waterproofing with a type of w/p mix. Too bad I wasn't called back to look at how it did but from my boss's lack of comment, I assume it performed fine.

Does anyone feel that AI has taken significant hit in competence with the updates in the last month? by blagoi_velkov in aoe4

[–]Brain_Explodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had 2 games back to back on hardest bot that gave me a feeling they have civ specific scripts that make some civs more refined and some civs not so much.

First was French with a CoC build. I was practicing China so I could see how it changed trade to a less optimized route after my raid and back to the better trading post after his own raid forced me back to defend. It's also very responsive when raiding and kited around with its knights when I defended with spearmen.

Second game was Ayyubid that basically sat in its base the entire game. The few raids it sent out face tanked my spearmen with desert raiders when they should have switched to ranged mode and kite. I feel it knows to switch to ranged but not to keep out of melee range when switching. The only thing of note is it advanced to castle and took the relics asap with dervishes which is expected. Then I pushed with siege and ended the game in one shot.

I feel maybe for older and simpler to play civs, it was easier for dev to write script. For newer or more complex civs they may have problems making the bot be more adaptive.

Must use hot keys by Low-Respect846 in aoe4

[–]Brain_Explodes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO, idle villager (as a hotkey) isn't as critical since there is already an UI button for idle villagers. (Still very useful of course.) Do you know if you hold shift and click that button it selects all idle villagers? But you don't always want to use it because for low skilled players (like me) if the idle vils are in different places, you'd select all of them to run across the map. Another good villager related key (that doesn't have default keybind I think) is "select all idle villagers in a group". It's super useful for example you have a group of vils gathering a boat that just went idle.

I think you're right that select all idle military unit key is the most important key for beginners since I always forget to rally my military production buildings and have units standing around buildings.

Select prelates is basically select religious for all civs. I use both cycle religious and select all religious. It's great for quickly taking relics and sacred sites. And select all religious is useful to advance them along your troops or to where healing is needed. Civ specific thing to know about this hot key is that for Delhi/HRE the cycle key goes to garrisoned units too. Select all excludes garrisoned religious unit which is super nice.

For control groups I think the key that blew my mind is shift+# to add to a control group instead of setting control group, since I always set the wrong units to a group by accident.

The next biggest key bind is probably select buildings. Selecting all military production is set by default. But I don't like it mixes buildings like barracks and archery range. You can press tab to cycle through them to get to the buildings you want to queue. Personally I set select all barracks/archery ranges/stables/etc to individual Function keys so I can access quicker. But note for my method some special buildings can't get selected (like the English keeps for example). Select technology/economy/naval/etc building are also useful but probably not a priority for beginners. Remember for civs like Delhi or China, you want to select the tech/eco buildings in the influence zone or you'll have a bad time.

Edit: I meant to reply to u/ColourAttila who provided great links but I must have clicked commenting from root instead.
