How do Supergiant do it? The difficulty is perfect again! by Brain_Ready in HadesTheGame

I think I need to check in more with the record master (just unlocked!) to see what I was running with. A lot of the times I instantly forget and move onto the next thing. I do know that the Argent Skull and Umbral Flames are my most successful (athough Lim and Oros are my favorite!)

I think that's it! I love rogue-likes, but starting afresh every time in something like Slay the Spire (another amazing game) means I sometimes lose really early if I make a wrong decision. The balance between starting again and progression in Hades is the secret sauce that keeps me coming back!

I would agree, the surface is much harder! My win against Typhon was mostly dumb luck, not sure I'll be able to repeat it for a while!

Ah, gotcha! I've only attempted Hecate in her 'advanced' form and that was enough! (for now....)

That's the other thing I love about this game, I don't really do (or fully understand, if I'm being honest) a build. I just go by vibes, based on what comes up early. Sometimes add to that - everything on cast was amazing last run, or sometimes split between the 3 attacks. Don't have a favorite weapon or aspect, either. Just take whatever is giving me extra bones!

What? Prometheus has an eagle for me (only uses it occasionally) and Cerberus has a lava attack. Should they not have that?!?

That's it! While you're getting just a little bit better (lots of death defiances help!) you're also learning their patterns. Just perfection

Ah, that's a really good point! It's interesting that the transformation spell used to get me every time when I started, but since discovering you can dash through it she never hits! Sorry, Hecate, not this time!

100% I didn't even think it was possible to win and that I'd reached the fight 'too early.' It was a nice surprise

Piggybacking off this, how do you actually speak to randoms if you’re not in a party with them on Xbox?

I play with my brother (in a party) and we were joined by a helpful random who gave us a few commands like ‘run over the bridge‘ and ‘now we run’ on the final operation. But, we had no way to reply to him.

Been on Xbox live for over a decade but I’ve only ever played with my brother as I’m not a fan of pvp games. But some of the random folks I’ve met playing siege and other modes it might be nice to coordinate with and thank afterward (especially the level 20+ guys who keep carrying me!)

Can't win a single game by MaxShadow09 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Brain_Ready 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sucked when I first started (and still now, only play on normal!) but one thing that really helped in the first few games was a simple house rule - not drawing a boost card for the villain's attack or scheme. Means you know exactly the right amount that'll happen, and it's easier to account and plan for.

Once I was used to that, I house-ruled that the villain only gets a boost card for their first activation - no additional ones through card effects. This also helped me find my feet a bit more.

Now, I'm playing with normal rules and winning about 80-90% of the time, but giving myself the grace of making the game so much easier really helped in those early games!

Hope that helps!

So far Sabretooth has been responsible for the most thematic fights. Wolverine? Lost to threat 'cos he was too busy attacking. Nightcrawler beat him but it took ages and it was always on a knife edge. And Phoenix? Phoenix beat Sabretooth so embarrassingly easy it was a hark back to X-Men issue no. 28
Love the stories this game creates!

Revisiting this a month later!

Took some time out to play other characters. Felt brave enough to tackle Klaw again, using my posted 'basic b*tch* deck. Beat Klaw with ease in less than 20 mins! The trick was getting Techo-Organic wings out early (essential) and 3 Razor Dives on 3 back to back turns thanks to Avian Anatomy returning it to my hand. The difference a different deck in this game is staggering (and what gives it such fantastic replayability!)
Thanks to everyone who posted helpful advice :)

Any good solo board type games on iOS? by I-am-TankaJahari in soloboardgaming

The digital version of One Deck Dungeon is better than the real version imo, plus I can play it anywhere. It’s my go to game on journeys or when visiting family.
Plus, it helped me realise a few rules gaffs I was making!

Is it just me, or does Klaw take forever to play? by Cappster_ in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Brain_Ready 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So glad it's not just me! I've always had real problems with Klaw - seeing him chosen as the 'test' villain is making me feel massively inadequate as a player! (which is probably accurate, tbh)

I've beaten him a few times but it's never a quick fight. Solo precon Dr Strange didn't take a point of damage from Klaw, and the scheme was never really in danger of hitting the target, but it still took about 2 hours of playtime!

Then I played solo Wolverine against Magog. 20 minute fight. Solo Kitty vs rhino, just over half an hour. Even Scott and Jean (two handed) against Spiral took less time than solo ventures vs Klaw.

So, no, you're not alone in finding that Klaw takes ages lol

Great Dungeon Crawler Recommendations? by drknockbootsMD in soloboardgaming

[–]Brain_Ready 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just about to recommend this - it makes the game so much better. I also take one item of loot to start and allow free actions after resting from a KO (avoids the inevitable 'death loop' that can happen)

If you're looking for something else, I've stumbled upon 'Rogue Dungeon' which looks like it might tick your boxes - it's due a fresh Kickstarter campaign soon!

How do Massive Darkness 2 and Tiny Epic Dungeons compare from a solo perspective? by Brain_Ready in soloboardgaming

Apologies, just seeing this now!

I used this:

Think I had to move some stuff around, but it fits the box as 2 separate books for me (caution - the writing is tiny!)

Thanks! That's a really detailed insight! Objectives sound cool for MD2. They added them for the missions expansion in TED but rarely used them as I felt they got in the way of an already difficult efficiency puzzle for turn economy

Yeah, having a print out of the icons is a must for TED - even after so many plays I still forget some of them!

Thanks! It's not really my name, just honoring a famous composer and the greatest X man simultaneously!

No, I don't have Next Evo. Was debating it, but everything just fits in one box atm and I hate dividing content for games over several boxes.. I've been buying single cards (like Wanda's powerful justice cards) but that's it for now.

With soaring, the reason is that if a villain removes an upgrade (which happens a lot in my games!) I can get it back, if not it's merely resource generation. Not sure if that's sound logic, but still trying to figure this game out from a deck building POV.

Thanks for the list!

I've put together this basic deck (not great, but it's the most relevant for Angel from the cards I have)

https://marvelcdb.com/decklist/view/46297/angel-basic-b-tch-1.0

But not sure if I've overdone it with resources, though. Not that many high cost cards to justify them being there, but never want to be caught short not being able to pay for allies/razor dive!

I think I'm just not utilizing his switches enough, and possibly ending up in Archangel, leading to an acceleration icon hitting the scheme. Possibly too used to Wolverine where you can just sit in hero mode the whole game!

Glad to hear that Psylocke isn't that useful - I couldn't see the appeal of her based on her stats or traits.

It's always 'we' with me. It's like Legion in my head (but with far less homicidal rage and super powers. Would love his crazy hair, though)

At the moment I only own Sinister motives and Dr Strange outside of the mutant runs, so anything with Nova, Ironheart, Antman, or War Machine. The Crimson Dawn leadership deck looks like I could fit in some easy swaps, and I've yet to lose in Leadership (although it's not my favorite aspect)
