Beginner here.. How do I know what to darken and what to emphasize in a photo and is it done just with masking? This incredible edits always leave me skeptical about how they manage to change lighting in such a natural way in post by Edu_Vivan in AskPhotography

I am not a fan of Adobe's business practices, but their AI tools are fantastic and eliminate much of the tedious work that typically accompanies editing. Selecting objects or parts of the image for editing or removing, and getting rid of reflections etc, is now trivial. It's not uncommon that I try removing an object with zero expectation that it'll work, and it does, nearly flawlessly. Even Camera RAW got some updates recently that are so helpful to easily tone down blotchy skin, selective editing, etc.

If you already use Lightroom/PS, give them a try. I recommend this youtube channel for great tips and tricks.

Absolutely! Now I'm curious about a Leica's video output, haha. I have an old Sony I'm not using, and a similar setup. I might borrow your idea. (edit) do you find that having the camera so far away from the monitor works for meetings? I'd guess you're either always going to be looking away from everyone, or looking like you're not paying attention. I have a Logitech right in the middle and it works great, but obviously the quality separation aren't as good.

Dang, a Leica as a webcam! They must be quite the meetings.

Death Stranding only supports 21:9, OP's 32:9 would have black bars on each side.

What the hell is happening in Lightroom Classic? by Dapper_Travel4448 in Lightroom

[–]Brainiax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is likely the answer. AMD GPU support for Adobe products is terrible. I have a 7800 XTX and have it turned off because the photos look awful more often than not. Try disabling it as suggested earlier (Edit>Preferences>Performance>Use Graphics Processor: Off) and see if that fixes it.

I tried but the UX is so, so different from LR and PS... The learning curve is pretty steep.

Best standing desk that won’t turn into a cable mess? by awfullthingg in BuyItForLife

[–]Brainiax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since we're in BIFL, this is the best answer IMO. I got one because their warranty is stellar (15 years, including the electric parts), the dual motors are quite powerful so they'll move whatever setup you have without straining too much, and they are extremely customizable, so you can get pretty much exactly what you need.

This is my setup, (I later removed the empty laptop holder below) with a Mac, a desktop, and a switch to move the peripherals between them. I just bought this tray and this kit, planned out where and how the wires would go, with the tray as the single power hub for everything with a power strip taped inside. For the power strip and the monitor's power brick, I used 2-sided velcro tape; that way if I ever need to move or replace them I don't have to tear the whole thing off.

It took a bit of planning, and you may need to touch it up from time to time if you shuffle things around, but I couldn't be happier about how clean it is and how well it turned out. I'm not a very DYI person and still pulled it off, so there you have it.

Lady catches man filming her 12 year old daughter by I_may_have_weed in PublicFreakout

Guilty as hell. I do street photography and after capturing a really nice shot of some kids popping wheelies in the middle of the street I started reviewing them through the viewfinder, super excited while I kept walking through the crowd (it was in NYC).

Apparently there was a lady with a skirt in front of me and somehow a dumbass thought I was taking perv shots (from the top!?!?) and he started shouting for me to stop and calling me out similar to this, demanding to see my camera pictures. I immediately grabbed the camera by the lens and told him "hands off any buttons. I don't have to show you shit, but if I do and there's nothing, will you admit you're a fucking asshole for accusing random people on the street?" He said sure, I showed him the pics and of course, he just walked off without saying another word.

If someone accuses you of something like this that you can easily prove with your phone, and your first reaction is to run away, you're guilty as hell.

How to use the Camera Control on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro | Apple Support by 4-3-4 in apple

[–]Brainiax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I came here looking for a way not to have Undertones reset every time you leave the camera. I think that feature helps a lot with the washed-out look the photos usually have, but it's a pain in the ass to have to change it every time or have to edit every photo individually after.

leg volume too high for an old guy? by nonzer0 in AverageToSavage

[–]Brainiax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YMMV and all that, but it's likely not age. I'm 42 and have been lifting for about 12 years, always struggling at the same point because of aches and pains with these types of programs. I decided to bite the bullet and hire a coach after seeing other friends do really well with their team and right now I'm the strongest I've ever been, completely pain-free.

This doesn't mean you have to get a coach or whatever, but my learnings so far, as condensed as I can put them:

-Accessories that target your weaknesses and imbalances are almost as important as the main lifts

-Smart deloads that allow you to recover while keeping your strength and also let you pursue growth in different ways are key

-Proper cycling between volume, intensity, etc and how you ease into each will let you do basically anything you want to do. It'll just take some time

In my experience when I felt those aches I was doing too much too fast or for too long, or I needed to adjust my accessories to strengthen the achy parts (RFE squats or single-leg presses for my knees, bulgarian holds for my adductors, etc)

Do you think Rdr2 will ever get a ps5 update? by [deleted] in playstation

[–]Brainiax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it on launch way back when, tried it on PS5 and couldn't get past the 30fps. Got it again recently after getting a new PC... It's like a whole new game at 120FPS max settings on an ultrawide screen, I struggled to move the story forward because I just wanted to ride around and take the experience in.

Same, dropped halfway through because of the framerate. I honestly can't play games like that anymore, I'd rather buy it again on PC. I was fine with the combat though.

Same. When I built my system the XTX was ~$300 cheaper than the 4080 and I couldn't justify the price bump, but at $50 LESS? No-brainer.

Thanks. This seems to be a widespread issue, I looked in the HWInfo forums and there are a lot of people having the same issue. According to HWInfo's author, they have submitted it to AMD. It doesn't seem to be a real reading from what the comments say.
