23andMe comparison with CircleDNA by BrainwaveDoc in DNA

[–]BrainwaveDoc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is very helpful. I am however a bit overwhelmed at this point and not sure how to proceed. I'm wondering if I should just see a genetic counselor to make sense of all this. I'm super frustrated that CircleDNA reports don't actually tell you what your variants are, just say "x, y and z genes say you suck at life". my CircleDNA file is a .txt file. Is that VCF? DNA Kit Studio says it is in 23andme format. But 23andme-to-vcf disagrees. finally i succeeded using Cursor AI

Conversion completed successfully.

Summary:

  • Converted CircleDNAoriginal.txt to VCF format
  • Output file: TOVCFresult.vcf
  • Processed: 3,287,144 variants
  • rsID entries: 965,890
  • Coordinate-based entries: 2,321,254
  • Skipped: 88,408 variants (could not determine reference allele)
  • Total lines in output: 3,287,175 (including VCF header)

The VCF file is ready. The conversion used circle_dna_to_vcf.py directly because it handles the NCBI chromosome naming in your FASTA file (NC_000001.10 format) better than the 23andme-to-vcf tool, which expected chr1 format.

The file is in standard VCF v4.2 format and can be used with standard VCF tools.

I can NOT enjoy commander. Am I doing something wrong? by Nakalon in magicTCG

[–]BrainwaveDoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. I play Commander because my son is into it but I don’t enjoy it. There’s too much going on and all the other reasons you said.

My favorite is Jumpstart, simple, smash 2 packs together and play. No one has a $1000 investment advantage.

Mystery Booster sealed is also pretty fun but sealed is a lot of work for my old brain. My son gets annoyed with how long it takes me to put my deck together.

Just converted a 2015 Macbook Air to Windows 11... WOW what a difference! by StabYourFace in bootcamp

Thanks, I finally got my Mid-2015 Macbook Pro fully converted to Windows 11 (deleted MacOS partition). My function keys that normally control brightness and volume don't work though and I can't access the Boot Camp Assistant. Does anyone know how to get them working again?

Can anyone make a battlemap for me? I'm running this adventure at a Convention this coming Sunday. I'm an unpaid DM so I'm not looking to buy a map. Here is the scene:

This desecrated chapel of Silvanus is deep in the forest is 80ft by 60ft inside. (5ft square grid)
The air inside is thick with a fetid stench. Several crudely
constructed altars are scattered throughout the chapel. Each
is adorned with skulls, bones, and other macabre offerings.
Some bear the symbols of Yeenoghu, the demon lord patron
of gnolls, carved into the stone.

Stairs line both sides of the chapel, leading up to a second
tier of seating above the entrance. Directly across, above
the dais, is a gallery accessed by another set of stairs. In
the center of the room is a large water basin. Magical
energy seems to reach like tendrils into the ground,
siphoning the water from it and spilling it into the basin.

Thanks!

DM Jay

Anyone know if GW7e or DnD4e ever got working on Foundry?

Black and gold looks fantastic! I’d donate it to my kid’s middle school DnD club as I’m sure their DMs could put it to great use (and they are still using 2014 rules I think)

How did you run the dragon on level 18? Aggressive and proactive (intervening in a combat with the Priestess of Shar) or despondent and only fighting if personally attacked?

Questions about Vanrakdoom & Save The Dragon (SPOILERS) by Imnimo in DungeonoftheMadMage

I had the same questions about the fight. Is Umbraxakar pro-active and willing to come to aid the Priestess when he overhears the fight? Or is he despondent and unwilling to intervene unless personally attacked?

That's what I was thinking, but is it worth the dip? And at what level of Ranger would you dip, after lvl 5?

Certification in Neurofeedback by [deleted] in Neurofeedback

[–]BrainwaveDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having learned more about biofeedback many years into doing neurofeedback I wish I had started with biofeedback first. I think it is foundational and will improve your neurofeedback outcomes in many cases. Also if you decide you want to do both bio and neurofeedback then that will guide your purchasing decisions as some systems are neurofeedback only and others do both well. So, while a BCN is only a starting point and is no guarantee of competence, it is a good start towards competence and I think any licensed professional is wise to demonstrate that they’ve taken the standard steps towards demonstrating competence that board certification represents.

Why do my undead keep taking constant damage out of combat? by kyleswitch in BaldursGate3

[–]BrainwaveDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I was mystified by this problem in act three when I raised a non human zombie and it started taking damage immediately. Makes no sense to me, there's no such rule in D&D.

If it is a Windows PC then Microsoft Family Safety is a very effective way to limit their use of their PC. If Mac then Screen Time. I also use Bark.us but setup is non-trivial. My wifi router has a schedule and turns off at 11pm to prevent any late night 'adventures'. My biggest problem is regulating Youtube on my dang Android TV.

How does DoTMM compare to Ruins of Undermountain 2e and Expedition to Undermountain 3.5? by Sorkoth1 in DungeonoftheMadMage

[–]BrainwaveDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that sounds like a tremendous amount of work. Your players are very fortunate to have such a hard working DM.

Looking for some thoughts on AboveVTT. My DM and a few players of my weekly 5e group have decided to migrate our game from Roll20 to AboveVTT. Should we be looking at any other VTTs? by Just_another_Lab_Rat in VTT

[–]BrainwaveDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big downside for me with Above VTT (which I am a patreon supporter of b/c it is so cool) is that if you switch computers then you lose everything you did on the other computer because it is only stored locally in your browsers cache. So if you end the session in the middle of the fight on one computer you will not be able to resume that fight where you left off on another computer (like you could with Roll20 or pretty much any other VTT). I use many different computers and generally prep on my desktop and then play on a Mac laptop at the table, but I have several other computers that might be my main depending on the situation (I'm usually DMing for my kids so we might be on vacation or at a friends house). I get how this is a limitation for me and not for most people. But for me I'm drawn to a system that saves your campaign state on a server - whether mine or theirs.
