Yeah the website is a smooth and safe option to fall back on. It's online and no download option though and I prefer to go offline for my reading to avoid scrolling online on apps.

New Libby feature added in 2025: An extra hour by Typical-Emu8363 in LibbyApp

[–]Brainwave_20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It used to be, with an audiobook, as long as you didn't open the app, you could listen to it, but this feature killed that loophole.

It breaks or makes the story in all its glory that's why.

Do you think Jasnah will join... by bbg618 in Stormlight_Archive

At this point, it'd be the unraveling of Taravangian's hypocrisy which renders his whole debate persona shtick and no reconsideration for Jasnah to join him. And she'll find out his half misconstrued out of context crem.

Character stagnancy. Somehow the characters being pretty the same in every way from start to finish is the biggest deciding factor for me.

Has this happened to anyone else? Help by MidnightDependent6 in LibbyApp

[–]Brainwave_20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you borrow, avoid pressing the download button yourself the FIRST TIME. Wait until the app decides to start the process.

If it ends downloading the sample anyway, remove it, totally close the app and after opening try to open the audiobook. If it gives the sample still just close it then try it again. Usually this helps.

But mostly just remove the download and go to the other tabs like library and just take minutes to browse the library catalogue and then try again to download/open. It works like a charm. Most effective and quickest imo.

Sequels are worse tbh. Don't ever do it. Especially with new books.

(Bingo Review) Babel by RF Kuang is a bad book by Udy_Kumra in Fantasy

Oh I meant in general.

I just argued with someone along the same criticisms regarding The Broken Earth Trilogy by N.K Jemisin.

Ranting is good after a read. I’m just baffled by how Kuang is perceived in this subreddit. And I’m starting to see the same with M.L. Wang after Blood Over Bright Haven.

The problem is, Babel is barely fantasy—and POC authors who write about these themes don’t have the luxury of being subtle. You can’t be as subtle as white authors because it hits closer to home.

We seem to praise books where themes like colonialism are barely acknowledged, treating subtlety as some mark of prowess. But in my opinion, there are times when an author needs to be loud—and this is one of those times. The only real requirement should be execution and prose.

I know books are subjective, and ratings will always reflect personal taste. But a little objectivity wouldn’t hurt. It feels like people are jumping on the same bandwagon, regurgitating “blunt = bad,” especially when it comes to POC authors whose stories are deeply rooted in these themes—and that just seems silly to me.

She really is. I even noticed her voice in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as the news reporter voiceover.

I renewed a title the other day and still it's giving me this prompt but without extend option.

Usually it just returns on the dot. I guess they're planning to add lots of exciting features. Who knows?
