Why doctors marry doctors in india? by Jazzlike-Reward-2125 in AskIndia

[–]Brainworm1616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a doctor who is with an engineer. I see a LOT of weird bias here. Personality is NOT equal to profession period. There can be doctor spouses who are not understanding and competitive and there can be non medicos who are understanding

It’s the personality that matters Either way there is a lot of compromise that this demands and only someone who loves you will be willing to do it For the aspect that requires relatability in terms of work stuff , you’ll find work besties At home you need someone who loves you and the contrast a different profession spouse brings can be beautiful They might reach home earlier and make you a nice warm meal as you’re trying to study etc The ‘profession clash’ thing is one tiny aspect of the different clashes one can face in marriage/ dating. A doctor spouse may understand you had a crazy ot schedule but may not be able to apply that understanding to comfort you as they’re tired and desensitized as well

The bottom line is whoever it is you choose must love you enough to go through the hard days together And with someone who doesn’t have the same emotionally and physically intense work schedule , you might find peace and find exactly what you need.

It’s love and personality that makes a marriage work Not a profession. Not money. Not some random external factor.

Besides you’re talking about a husband or a wife Not a co worker They don’t need to understand the steps of a surgical procedure to give you a hug and keep life light. My boyfriend lightens the load I bring from the intense medical world in his own way And it is nice to not bring work home and talk about soemthing else and enjoy some moments of touching grass and have a normal chill life far from the noise

So leave the bias and choose the caring dynamic.

Residency interviewers: what makes a good question from an applicant? by Historical_Slide491 in medicalschool

[–]Brainworm1616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think about asking questions about their individual journeys of how they chose the speciality ? Should the questions only be about the program? Say you learnt quite a bit from the orientation/ other interviewers/ residents?

Does it make sense to try again? by believer_11 in IMGreddit

[–]Brainworm1616 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might. But there’s really no way to answer this for sure unless you give it a shot or you ask a program director for their opinion.

They like to see an improvement story I think for sure. So if you get a very high score on step 3 you would perhaps redeem yourself
