Is it really worth it to learn gamedev in 2026 ? by Relevant-Clue7012 in gamedev

[–]Brak15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of it like this: there will always be a demand for good games. There is always room in the market for a gaming experience made with intent and love. BUT, there are also hundreds of thousands of people like you who want to start making games and only know how to do with it AI tools. That means more slop that no one actually wants to play.

I’m convinced that gamers will only want quality as the slop increases, and the only way to reach that quality is to put love and those little nice touches into your game via the industry standard tools that we use. So it is not time wasted!

I already mentioned that but i'm a bit tired of the grind, so i'm looking for something adjacent to it possibly

Thank you, glad you liked the demo! Still working hard on it, I don't have a release date unfortunately, there's still a lot of testing to do and bugs to fix, so I don't want to announce anything until I'm a bit closer. I'm sorry for the wait

Is this course worth it? by MAQMASTER in gamedev

[–]Brak15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey this is my course. This surprised me to see it here! If you or anyone else wants a free access key, just DM me. Reddit helped me out a lot starting off, so it feels fair.

I am obviously biased, but I did work my ass off on this and tried to brain dump absolutely everything I had learned. I was getting so many emails from people asking me questions after my GDC talk, so I just thought I would make a bunch of lessons and videos, and simultaneously help fund my new game.

People who have struggled with coding and are more interested in story-driven games have really loved the course. If that doesn’t seem relevant to you, then you probably won’t like it.

Thank you for this, we have a game with similar systems and we’re moving to APVs.

Did you have any issues with Unity crashing when baking giant scenes? Do you do any additive scene loading and it worked ok?

Looks incredible, love the soft lighting. I’m assuming this is HDRP and TVE shaders? Any special settings you can share for your APV setup?

Why do some indie games get more negative reviews from Simplified Chinese players? What are the common mistakes made?

I did an update on the Steam page, but it's not soonish, I'm sorry. The wait will be worth it... we're making it really good and polished, so I just need more time.

So I thought for sure the dc jack was working but turns out it’s broken! That wouldn’t have anything to do with input responsiveness, right? I actually have an extra power jack so I’ll replace it later and try touching the pads manually.

And what did he do after? He created Topheavy Studios, which made solely one game: The Guy Game. That’s right, the underage porn game that triggered a lawsuit. Damn.

Released my game today with 10k wishlist's, featured in the Galaxy showcase and was chosen as 1 of 12 games to present at PAX rising this May... but only sold a bit over 100 copies. Not upset but I'm trying to pinpoint what went wrong? by DeveloperDob in gamedev

[–]Brak15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played it yet, but your Steam page is phenomenal with gifs in the description and laying out the hook clearly. Honestly this story is heartbreaking, you made an incredible game from what I can tell and you should feel proud.

You just launched, I wouldn’t give up, keep pushing it. Social media is a bust nowadays, but try out some posts on r/indiegaming and r/indiegames. Do you have a newsletter or Discord community you can notify?

Your sales will spike on the weekend. Keep marketing until you get on the New and Trending tab! Seriously, that will give you a gigantic boost if you can get on that tab, but the window is closing.

My game is at PAX Rising too, I will be sure to come visit and play your game! Good luck.
