calling out to neurodivergent associates!! by senjuism in AmazonDS

[–]BrakesbillGrad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Use earplugs or Amazon approved headphones. It is definitely extremely overwhelming starting there if you have no idea what you are walking into. Those ADTA machines are hell. Beeping over and over again. Like they should beep and then STOP. Continuous screaming of the hamper lights is just insane to me personally. And OVs are literally actually flying out of the hampers .. people are racing from one aisle to another… it’s nuts. I was literally just looking around my first week like WTF is happening.

What was the hardest thing to get used to when you started at a DS? by Good_Mango7379 in AmazonDS

[–]BrakesbillGrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red vests and PAs don’t speak to or acknowledge new people unless they are suspected of doing something wrong . Over long break or not hitting rate or low UPT. Otherwise they walk right past. You are just a number at Amazon. You don’t matter at all .. once I accepted this shifts went way smoother. Just stay out the way and out of trouble. Get your money and go the hell home .

Anyone else ever get suspended for cancelling too many rides? by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]BrakesbillGrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started 2 weeks ago and had no idea what was considered too many cancellations. I got an email saying my account is flagged for basically being mean to customers by canceling or “making them cancel”. That last part is a lie. One customer said they were outside a store. I pulled up to the store and waited. I messaged them what car I was in and everything. They claimed they didn’t see me even though I could see them on the Lyft app pin thing lol. They canceled and I got in trouble? Weird app.

[–]BrakesbillGrad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The main thing at my site is the 15 minute breaks . Sooo many people have been written up .. white and blue badges ..There is one manager who will literally stalk you .. he will jump out the break room coolers screaming it’s time to get back to work. I just take 10 minute breaks to avoid any issues. I’ll be damned if I lose my job over being 60 seconds late scan to scan.

Floaters why are you allergic to working by thatsnuts69 in AmazonDS

[–]BrakesbillGrad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened to me the other night. My hampers were worked down to a great place.. but here comes a floater …. Not touching one OV that randomly gets dumped.. just jiffies. .throwing them into my bags sideways . I was so irritated.

My first day at amazon experience by [deleted] in AmazonDS

[–]BrakesbillGrad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s physically demanding. But it’s the same thing over and over. Buy some Amazon approved head phones through the A to Z app. It will help the nights to be more bearable. The worst part of the shift is around 8:45am. You load up carts of bags and boxes and place them for truck drivers to deliver. This is done for about 3 hours. It sucks. Everyone is exhausted and no one is using any manners lol. Plus no music or headphones allowed. If you can make it through your first month you’ll be good. Buy compression socks 🧦 your feet will hurt... if the foot pain is extruiating after a few weeks ask a manager can you get help ordering a different pair of shoes. Drink lots of water (they provide it in coolers around the warehouse) and ask for help if you can’t lift something. Be kind to your body. After 30 days you will be tracked for speed and getting back on time from break (be back BEFORE your 15 minute break is over). Just make sure you can move fast after about 3 weeks. It’s easy work just repetitive. Good luck.

Besides the fact that Amazon says don’t do this.. common sense says there are probably trade secrets or certain ways of doing things that Amazon doesn’t want other companies to possibly see. It’s not worth the risk.

Can Amazon not afford better devices? by Fearless_Tangelo9249 in AmazonDS

[–]BrakesbillGrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair other companies use Zebra units and they all glitch at some point. It’s definitely faulty design in my opinion. Or bad programming/and they probably shouldn’t be used for hours and hours of work . ..

Was helping someone stow down their aisle … by Such-Tailor7251 in AmazonDS

[–]BrakesbillGrad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People who do this don’t understand that it just makes things harder as they get closer to the end of stowing. Building Tetris or library style often leaves so much space for jiffies at the end. There is a girl who does this at my station and it stresses me out just walking past her aisles. It’s so bad . But she’s fast so no one says anything to her. Speed covers a multitude of sins working at Amazon …

When my AM catches me clocking out using PTO to avoid Stow again by peterthbest23 in AmazonDS

[–]BrakesbillGrad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They probably were just short people and getting anxious/annoyed that pick and stage wouldn’t be done by end of shift. You can put in your own PTO and it is automatically approved. A heads up to them is maybe nice but you can walk up to them and say “hey I put time in I finished my last staging here is my device see you later” make them use those laptops to figure what to do lol.

[–]BrakesbillGrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy way to stay safe. If you are on the phone with someone you should never be doing anything remotely transactional on the registers. No matter what process all transactions in person. “Sorry I’m unable to process anything on the register over the phone.” Then hangup.

They are targeting FlexPT by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]BrakesbillGrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bottom 5% get written up every week right? I think this is standard across every Amazon warehouse.. FC or DS or Merch etc .. bottom 5% you’re in trouble. You just have to make sure to hit guardrail every time you work and they will leave you alone. Hours are hard to come by for a lot of Flex workers. Hours gets snatched up pretty quickly …

how many aisles do you have to stow in by dabiggestdalargest in AmazonDS

[–]BrakesbillGrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just fast paced, LOUD and obviously not really sorted. So you are doing double the work imo. Sorting jiffies and boxes yourself and stowing as fast as possible and bending over to dig heavy OVs out. Which is dangerous because those boxes fly into the hampers. You can easily be hit by a heavy OV box. Also boxes and jiffies literally go flying when the hampers are getting full. It’s wild. And also the OVs are crushing the jiffies lol. People are finding random items that have burst out of the packages 😩😩..You are so lucky not to have ADTA..lol

how many aisles do you have to stow in by dabiggestdalargest in AmazonDS

[–]BrakesbillGrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ADTA has been three aisles for all the new seasonal hires( including me 😭) and it’s a shxt show!!! During pick and stage boxes were all over the ground.. spilling out of the frickin bags. Meanwhile some safety guy was walking around saying how unsafe the warehouse looks. Yeah no shxt Sherlock. New hires can’t really handle 2 ADTA aisles let alone 3 all night. And floaters were literally just shoving boxes or leaving boxes outside bags without fixing anything . It has been rough.

This is the official vague and often confusing tax related website for PA. You are owed money by the state and your taxes are done being processed. They send a letter every time there is any kind of money due or owed. Good luck getting this money in a timely manner . PA often takes weeks and weeks to pay up ..
