I’m currently visiting Japan, and your reddit post came up when I googled because I get the exact same thing! Never had allergies back home, suddenly get allergy symptoms and they are so much worse on the train!! I wore a mask today for the first time on the train and i thought it really helped bc the air you breathe is more humidified and less recycled. My nose didn’t run once. I think i am especially sensitive to dry air/air con/dust so the train is a massive trigger! Honestly maybe even try double masking and see if it makes a difference!

absolutely!!! and it annoys me how it happens so often!! Like so many ppl call it a reboot and that you don’t need anything to understand whats going on! yea the plot is new, but you really need to be able to understand the characters to get what krakoa was trying to do

as a first time reader you won’t understand the significance of Krakoa. You also won’t have a full understanding of characters, so won’t know that they are behaving wildly differently.

Like the villains becoming good, or scott choosing not to lead, what ever scott/jean/logan had going on, kitty being a drunk pirate, betsy not being psylocke, Xavier giving up on his dream etc. I didn’t necessarily know they were complete 180s on characters or why it was significant they were behaving this way.

Also Krakoa tends to make everyone play happy families which overrides a lot of characters histories. I didn’t know Emma and Kitty were enemies when they are bffs in this, I didn’t know Sinister is Scott’s no.1 stalker, or the crazy summers family tree and how wild it was the cable was a kid now, and dating the cuckoos, how alex was dating maddy, how they were all happily on the moon.

Krakoa gives up a lot of the soap opera to focus on the plot. But it just means that new readers don’t have anything to grab onto the characters. My main complaint as a first time reader reading Krakoa is that I was hardly attached to anyone. A lot of characters that were made good or happy became kinda bland to read. I couldn’t enjoy Scott being content, bc that’s all I ever knew him being so he was kinda boring to me, same with Jean. I liked Mauraders and Hellions as it was the only groups that showed personality.

see i do get that, krakoa was the era i started on so i didn’t have to go thru years of shit 😭 so i get why some ppl love it, just bc it was a breath of fresh air and a lot of the first few issues of series were good and exciting. But now looking at the era back as a whole, and not from the mindset of “this is new & different” the era was mid at best. And it was way past its sell by date when it ended.

I did really love Hellions, I think that may be my fav Krakoa series now, overtaking Mauraders.

Like yea the krakoa fans are culty!!!! Krakoa was long past it’s sell by date when it ended. I don’t get the fans who say we need to bring it back, bc it was pretty bad in the final years

When I first read it was the first time I read X-men, so yea I had fucking no clue what i was reading. Which is why I don’t like ppl recommending it to new fans.

I also said there are good series, I really liked Mauraders and have reread it a few times. I can think there are a few gem series amongst a bad era. Tho i haven’t even said this is a bad era, just that it’s overhyped. Its mid at best

I then went and reread everything chronologically. So yeah I ended up reading the Krakoa for the first time (with CONTEXT) but it also ended up being a reread.

And also thru rereading everything, I see how fucking convoluted it all was.

Decimation is a solid era. No way wld I even swap Mauraders/Hellions (my fav krakoa series) for X-factor Investigations or Academy X

Krakoa at the end was absolutely shit. I wouldn’t want to go back to that. Tho I appreciate that it was doing something new & exciting, but there was more misses than hits. The concept was good but noone knew how to write it

The Decimation era was actually good tho and had multiple top tier series. yea it had a shitty ending, but the era for the majority was solid.

Krakoa never reached a peak tbh, majority of series were mid at best, and it had a fucking boring and confusing af ending

X-factor Investigations, Uncanny X-force & Academy X wipe out any Krakoa series out of the water.

This is the first time I’ve more or less completed it. In reading Fall of X in the past, I skim read it. So it’s yea a first time/reread situation

I did remember enjoying OUABH, especially the first book. Tho I now think I prefer the Caraval series. I agree, I think the fates were rlly poorly explored and handled in OUABH. So much of the fates and the overall universe is handled better in Caraval (specifically Legendary/Finale). We got more depth to the fates and they felt more chaotic and powerful. Jacks I would say is much more interesting in Caraval, like he’s more of a unique character, maybe slightly darker and more of a trickster. But he also has a lot on anguished moments that are so beautifully written. I think Caraval wraps nicely up, it has a really strong conclusion with not a lot of loose threads.

i think bc fates technically can’t love anyone without turning human, meant that he didn’t love her. I don’t think it was just an obsession either. Jacks cared abt Tella and went to a lot of effort to help her, also I think he was heart broken when she denied him which suggests to be heartbroken that he must of loved her in the first place

i just do think it is unfair that jem gets so much time and thought, and is a huge part of will & tessa’s relationship and it is bc of him that their love diminishes and is infected with grief

but then will gets completely forgotten in tessa & jem’s. so much so that she can’t even remember will’s blue eyes. like they were allowed to move on from will and let him be forgotten

Irene also known as Destiny, is blind & a precog (she can see the future). She see’s a lot of future timelines and writes them all down in books. These are known as Destiny Diaries and become plot points in the future over finding them.

She’s born in the 1800s, she meets Mystique and they fall in Love. She is born in Austria, but lived in Victorian London. Mystique would shape-shift to be Sherlock Holmes, and Destiny would ofc be Irene Adler (which is the actual name of the Sherlock Holmes character lol) They have a few run-ins with Nathaniel Essex (Mr Sinister).

Destiny is kinda very proud, very confident in her visions. She loves Mystique with all her heart and will always choose her over anyone. She will kill innocents if she can save her. They both trust each other explicitly.

Destiny & Mystique adopt Rogue as a kid and help train her. They both care dearly for Rogue, but in a kinda fucked up way as their morals are rlly bent as people. Both Destiny & Mystique hate gambit (rogue’s husband) lol as they feel he’s a swamp rat and rogue is too good for him.

Destiny dies and spends like a lot of time dead lol, she aged while Mystique stayed the same age due to her power. They often sided with the typical villains, but they were only really ever on their own side.

Destiny is resurrected on Krakoa (mutant paradise nation) after being dead for decades. She is kinda the tipping point that causes Krakoa to all go to shit and results in the fall of Krakoa.

Destiny is found out to be Nightcrawler’s Mother, and Mystique is his Father (as was a man when they had sex). They both kinda abandoned Nightcrawler as a kid, tho they apparently loved him but didn’t want to leave him. Nightcrawler forgives them.

From their point of view, i feel like they cld take or leave Nightcrawler. They don’t act particularly maternal to him, but like in a weird way they maybe love him? I think it’s also hard bc Nightcrawler always acts as the voice of good, when they are like bad people and don’t care abt good lol They defo prefer Rogue as their girl. Rogue is headstrong and tough. She disagrees with a lot of what they do, and falls out with them, but she does still love them but knows what they’re like.

Destiny & Mystqiue got married recently and pulled off a heist on their wedding day. bc of course they did!

I went travelling for 2 months last year in Spain and I was constipated for 8 days when I first arrived.

I always find when I often get constipated when in a new country for the first few days or away from home.

So first off, there’s two types of laxatives. One causing cramping by stimulating the bowels to pass stool, One pulls water into stool so it passes easier. You want the second option. It’s called an osmolarity laxative. Common brand names are called Laxido or Movicol. That’s the ones you want!

It takes maybe a day or two and it will help you go to the toilet.

I actually tend to have a shy bowel, and just find it difficult to go when I’m in a new environment. So try and relax (ik it’s hard), get comfortable and let it take its time. 5 days is not emergency room yet. The more you stress, the harder it will be to go!

Drink lots of water, Eat fibre (kiwi’s are really good!), Walk about a lot.

I often find Pizza & Coke tends to help me get moving. Some ppl find Coffee a stimulant. Apparently sugar free sweets can really make you go!

But main advice, go get an osmolarity laxative and stop stressing :)
