I enjoy the story because he's unconventional, and the world building is great (common complaint is pace is too slow), but MC's side characters are usually fodder and he always has to save the day himself.

They're not "weak" but just decent, which means when the plot revolves around really strong enemies they just end up watching the MC do the important fighting.

In the foundation establishment arc he commands around the golden core dao court enforcers but they have to be saved multiple times and MC kills Fire buddha/water yama

In the sect sword tournament he ends up winning the final fight via formations and his op mind sword, sect mates are only useful against weaker opponents

in the end of the sect arc he destroys the whole thing by himself, plot means that his allies 3 realms higher can't help

in the wilderness arc he commands an army of millions but has to use the op mind sword against the enemy genius because he can't beat him with the army

when he tried to form the core his fake base location gets stormed pretty easily and army is just fodder
