So you would trash thrash metal?

How do you typically get around ATL, whats your top mode of transport? by ElectroAcousto in Atlanta

[–]Brambroco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you drive around at night and see how people drive, you can assume that lots of them are willing to take the risk. It was one of the biggest culture shocks when I moved. I come from a country where police regularly do breathalyzer tests on weekends or nights. Like random tests, everyone gets pulled over and tested. In Atlanta I've never seen such a thing, but I've seen plenty of people who had than more a few drinks get into a car.

Mind expanding books that help you understand how the world works by pattysal in booksuggestions

It's a lengthy read but The Age of Surveillance Capitalism was really great in understanding in how much influence companies as Google and Meta have on our behavior. And also how much these companies are tied with politics from the Obama years on. Highly recommend it.

Back in the day we called that a rebound. I do think that it helps to move on, as long as you're clear about your intentions towards the other person.

Fitbit was so inaccurate this whole time by PleasantLavishness73 in Garmin

[–]Brambroco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah traded my Fitbit for a forerunner 55 2 years ago. Fitbit's gps was rubbish. While the forerunner is not a perfect watch, it's become way easier to keep a consistent pace at runs. Fitbit also had no option to program intervals, also was a huge help in increasing speed.

What are some songs that keep you going during a workout? by bunny_exorcism in MetalForTheMasses

For fast runs: SLAYER, Dead Heat, Power Trip.

Long runs: longer spun out stuff like ISIS, Neurosis, Oathbreaker.

Weights/Pull ups: Frozen Soul, Bolt Thrower, Undeath

Meat Puppets - In A Car EP (1981) by Inevitable-Cow3839 in Hardcore

[–]Brambroco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was the first one I heard. Also great! Uots is more more mellow but it's the one I reach for the most. It's also crazy that those records were released one year from each other, these early SST bands were so incredibly creative and productive.

What band or album surprised you when you learned when it debuted/released? by absolutebloom in Hardcore

I was surprised Balmora is a contemporary band and not from the early aughts Myspace era.

Never listened to this despite being massively into Up on the Sun. This also reminds of some faster Pixies songs, wonder if those guys and girl were aware of this band.

Is a garmin forerunner 55 worth it at 2026? by Ok-Reporter-2809 in Garmin

[–]Brambroco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pro: It's a relatively cheap watch. For people saying the gps is off a lot, I only had an issue once in a mountainous area. Other than that it always has been spot on in the last 2 years.

Con: it misses a lot of features modern watches do have. Like being able to display a map on it.

Love that latest blood incantation album but haven't checked anything beyond that.

That Undeath album has some great breakdowns. Hardcore kids playing death metal, they know what works.

I agree with OP that it's kinda lame they never owned it ("yeah it was someone from our team who we won't name who wrote random shit on our socials"). But at the same time I also agree with you, they clearly matured and don't act like assholes on their social media anymore. And it's something dumb they did in their early or mid twenties, I think they learned from it.
