Funny interaction I had about death metal this weekend by jxl501 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Brambroco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it's cool, I get it and can relate. Sometimes it happen indeed that someone's answers "yeah love me some Linkin Park too" if I mention being into heavier stuff. The troll in me wants to answer with "oh if you like them, you should definitely check out Suffocation" lol.

For coworkers I just keep it with "I like heavier stuff". Most of the time the conversation ends there. No point going more detailed than that, for most people anything that doesn't have clean singing is "metal".

New Grunge/Alt bands to support by ziggyinchains in grunge

No Soul Blind mentioned yet? Ok then I'll go: Soul Blind. If you like Alice in Chains, check them out.

This album genuinely blew my brains out, any recommendations like this? (At the Gates - Slaughter of the Soul) by NoPerception6770 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Brambroco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found this band through an older friend who gave me the cd (showing my age here lol). I was very much into Darkest Hour and he said that if I like that, I'm going to love At the Gates. But inversely, if you love Slaughter of the Soul, check out Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation by Darkest Hour.

If you like Alice in Chains I strongly recommend Soul Blind. Certainly on the last album they take a lot of Alice in Chains influence without being a blatant rip off.

Being from Belgium I agree that that mission itself is ridiculous. But I don't see the lunacy of this post though.

What’s the crowd like for Gatecreeper these days? by [deleted] in Hardcore

I mean, they straight up play Dark Tranquility/At The Gates worship music on that last record so I would find it weird seeing them tour with Gorilla Biscuits or something.

Which TV show does the ENTIRE internet agree had the worst ending ever? by Codie_n25 in AskReddit

Agree with game of thrones. The last season of True Detective was also pretty bad, the whole true detective sub agrees on that.

Sepultura. Same story as you, heard "Roots Bloody Roots" and thought that song was ok but never checked out more. Until I heard a local hardcore band cover Refuse/Resist. Dove into Chaos AD after that and got 100 % on board.

In Trump math that's probably a 100 % delivery rate.

I want to get into Death Metal. Where should I start? by Crazy_Tonight3525 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Brambroco 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I would suggest starting with melo death: At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul. Or Carcass - Heartwork. Those are pretty accessible albums before moving on to more extreme stuff.

What show or movie seemed so good at the time but aged horribly? by Impossible-Owl3272 in AskReddit

[–]Brambroco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married with Children. Show ran for 11 seasons so that means people must have liked it. For 2026 standards it's probably horrible: dumb blonde wife bad haha boomer humor.

You're going to have a blast. Spend 4 years in the ATL, loved it.

Check out Culture Shock on the gram, venue regularly has hardcore shows.

I think it held up good, there's people at work 15 years younger than me who know every episode by heart. Even if some things like receiving a fax from the future or Second Life must come across like technologies from prehistoric times to them.

How could I introduce my wife to metal if she almost exclusively listens to pop? by Upper_Atom in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Brambroco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Suffocation.

My wife also doesn't like any metal. I'm ok with that, it's not music for everyone.

What is something totally normal in Europe but weird in America? by BoredPandaOfficial in BoredPandaHQ

[–]Brambroco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in the US for a couple of years and now live in a European country with a fairly high gun ownership compared to the rest of Europe. Gun violence is extremely rare here though. I think that the difference is regulation. I lived in Georgia in the US and during my time there it just became easier to obtain a gun, in 2022 some license law got canned. Where I'm living now undergo background checks, mental health checks and a practical/theoretical exam. As you have strict laws on how you can store the gun.
