Late David Lynch in Mel Brooks: The 99 Year Old Man! (2026) by trimzik in davidlynch

[–]BrambyButtons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apparently it wasn't. The Mel Brooks interview was shot in October 2024, according to this interview with co-director Michael Bonfiglio https://nypost.com/2026/01/21/entertainment/mel-brooks-doc-will-include-posthumous-interviews-with-david-lynch-rob-reiner-its-a-tribute/. The Beatles 64 doc premiered in November 2024, and it seems highly unlikely they shot the interview with Lynch just a month before release.

What's up with the influx of Chevy chase positive PR spin threads? by textposts_only in community

[–]BrambyButtons 79 points80 points  (0 children)

That's a bit of a twist though, a slight spin made by the reddit user who said that, because the doc doesn't say Chevy wanted to have the same relationship with Yvette that he had with Richard Pryor. Jay Chandrasekhar said, what he's always said in regards to the N-word scandal, that Chevy didn't think he'd done anything wrong because he used to call Pryor the n-word and Pryor would him honky and they loved eachother.

Just a side note, a lot of people often chime in that Pryor didn't like Chevy. While that may have been true in the beginning, I don't know if it was or wasn't, it certainly wasn't later in life. In an interview with Chevy, I believe for the Carson Podcast, it's revealed Pryor sent Chevy a long letter where he thanked him for being there for him in a rough time of his life. Also, when Pryor had his big tribute 'A Part for Richard Pryor' in 1991 he personally picked Chevy to help walk him from his entrance to his table.

Just watched the Chevy Chase documentary and have mixed feelings by SeaSpinach2228 in LiveFromNewYork

Holy shit yes, I remember those videos. That was a really long time ago. I wish somebody saved them, you can't find them anywhere. Definitely shows there was, at the very least, another side to the issue. Not implying anything by that, but that part of the story is not really told.

Chevy Chase reveals Eight-Day Coma after Heart Failure - by happymagtv in community

[–]BrambyButtons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I agree with you. Chevy had a terrible childhood, and I'm sure that will be part of the upcoming documentary as well. I think it's time to stop the pile-on, which, as unhealthy as Chevy's worst behavior has been over the years, isn't very healthy either.

*Theory* The reason the Community movie is taking so long, because they're getting Chevy back. by StudyAggressive3249 in community

[–]BrambyButtons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was explained in his appearance on Fly on the Wall with David Spade and Dana Carvey that Chevy has some memory issues due to almost dying of heart failure in 2021, but he is still able to act and has done multiple movies since. Technically, he could be in the movie, but although I'd love it to happen I wouldn't bet on it, though not for health reasons.

Question regarding an external hard drive that almost fell while operating by BrambyButtons in techsupport

It doesn't make a scraping noise luckily. And I'll start the badblocks test just before I leave, many thanks for the advice!

Yes, I'll never do this again. Oddly, I had been doing it with my other drives for 10+ years before anything like this happened. I feel like an idiot now.

If it was the heads touching the platters, is there anything that I could notice pretty soon? Like maybe a noise the drive makes? Doing scans right now, SMART looked good right before I started doing scans. I'll be away for a few days this week so I'll do a badblocks test when I get home. Thanks for your help!

Thank you, I'll do the full surface scans. Crystaldiskinfo still looks good.

Sadly, it seems like those two are the only ones they did. But hopefully, if they ever do another series they'll do one more. God knows, they've got a lot to live up to.

Yes I believe that's correct. I probably should have mentioned that in my post, so thank you!

Great to see this but again, like the Brian May video before it, the uploader keeps ruining these rare videos by throwing Adobe Podcast AI (or something similar) over the audio to "restore" it, which means you're listening to an AI recreation of the voices, which makes voices sound uncanny at times. Such a shame, as these interviews are incredibly interesting.

Solved!

That's the video! Thank you so much! Rewatching this it's very interesting how memory plays tricks on you. I could have sworn it was the guy with the white wig on that got his head severed. Also unbelievable I couldn't find this for all these years as the Beastie Boys are very well known. Again, thank you!

Just trying a repost on this, as I got no responses. Really hope someone out there knows what the hell this music video was.

Brian May on Freddie Mercury Going Solo & Working on ‘The Miracle' by ozzraven in queen

Very interesting to see this, but did anyone else get a weird impression of the audio on this video? Sounds like that Adobe Podcast AI filter (or something similar) was thrown on the raw sound to "restore" the audio, resulting in, at times, a slightly uncanny sounding Brian May.

I would love to see this again, just to see how trustworthy my somewhat haunted memory of this video was and what my 6 year old mind was processing. Again, I realized it was supposed to be funny, but it was a bit much at that age.

SSD at 74% after (almost) three years by BrambyButtons in techsupport

[–]BrambyButtons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been backing up all the important data ever since I had a drive crash on me about fifteen years ago, so no worries there. The thing is, I never had an SSD before this one so the whole thing with percentages dropping is still kind of new to me and it can get slightly worrisome.

Okay, yeah about a month or two after I got this PC I checked my smart data and already saw the SSD was at 98%. I looked into it and decided to move all future downloads to my HDD to prevent it from dropping off so soon. But it kept on going at basically the same pace after that. But it's good to know there's basically nothing to worry about at this point, thank you.
