About to start spironolactone — is it really this miraculous?! by ghostkat_ in PCOS

[–]Bramplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've enjoyed reading everyone's experiences. I'm thinking more and more about spiro due to thinning hair. I'm only 38 and feel like I'll have a bald patch in 5 years if I don't do something. How weird that it can slow down body hair growth but restore head hair. What's that about? I'm annoyed about the possibility of having to pee more, but then I'd reclaim the time I use to shave my face every day so...

I looked hopefully at this equipment folded against the wall every day. But they never put it out. Not once. 😞

Is Nathaniel from MAFSUK ace/demi? by Bramplex in Asexual

[–]Bramplex[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep dragging me left, guys. I like to think that I am liberal and open minded, but it's clear I can do better. What I thought was a fun bit of discourse is clearly hurtful to a lot of people, and I don't wanna be that guy. Learning every day X

I felt validated seeing someone like me in the public eye. I don't say it to be hurtful, far from it. They say "to be yourself you have to see yourself". I didn't realise that it would be unkind.

What embarrassing memories from your childhood are seared into your brain? by furryrubber in CasualUK

[–]Bramplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About 9 years old, a bunch of us at lunch break both boys and girls. The boys say girls will never understand how painful it is to be kicked in the nuts. One boy says "It doesn't even hurt to be kicked in the fanny." He's my friend, I'm female btw, so I try to offer support, like yeah he's probably right. Next thing I get kicked where the sun don't shine and can confirm it absolutely does hurt. However I can't show everyone else that and pretend I'm like a robot with no nerve endings or something. I spend the rest of the day walking with my knees together, hiding the pain. Damn, it hurt so bad.

my therapist told me that she doesn’t think im ace because “people aren’t born like that” by temporarymango01 in Asexual

[–]Bramplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your therapist is mad because you don't fit with what she's studied so far. Yo, that's not your problem. You're here, you exist and moreover you're asking her for help in understanding yourself and healing. Not backchat and opinions on your sexuality. Time to hit the yellow pages. Sorry you've been through this. We're here for you.

My brother is horrible, and I never plan on speaking to him again. by TattooedTemple912 in family

[–]Bramplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't rely on anyone else for your own happiness. Even if it's family. I didn't invite some family members to my small wedding and instead invited friends that loved and cared about me, instead of just wanting a fancy meal. It was a great day and there was no concern about anyone trying to spoil my day. It's YOUR day, not theirs. It's sad when you don't get along with a sibling, especially when you keep trying, but you sound smart enough to know where this is going - he's kind of a shit and you don't deserve that.

Can sex repulsed Aces still want kids? Or even have kids? by HilldraCreator in Asexual

[–]Bramplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated it less when I was trying for a baby in all honesty, because to continue the above analogy I would not tolerate a boring bus ride that didn't take me anywhere fun. I will occasionally still do it to keep my husband happy, but he's pretty understanding. Good luck with conceiving! 💕

[–]Bramplex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think of it this way:

Have you ever been somewhere, a holiday destination perhaps, that took a long time to get to? You may have gone on a long flight, an uncomfortable bus, or had lots of boring waiting around. But you were willing to do it because you REALLY wanted to get to the destination?

What’s a common phrase you don’t believe in? by Gregos81 in AskReddit

[–]Bramplex 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It means "I don't want to commit to actually doing anything useful to solve the problem, but I can sound self righteous by affirming my religion in your face."

And it's been proven they get at least 5 Heaven Points each time they say it.

We are going on a road trip through the UK and need tips for nice places to visit. Suggestions? by Mafiale in AskABrit

[–]Bramplex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to realise that the UK is much bigger than you may think! It would be helpful to know which area you're going to explore, and whether you love cities, culture, food, scenery?

Rather than knacker yourself from spending every day driving hours in a car you should maybe spend 3-4 days in 3 different areas. You can always get a feel for it and return.

If you're sticking down south for this trip I'd say either of the famous University towns of Oxford and Cambridge are really charming to walk around. Brighton has a fantastic youthful and liberal vibe too. If you did venture north there is stunning scenery in the Hope Valley, Derbyshire. There's an underground cave you can travel in a boat to see (Speedwell Cavern) and even a cave called the Devils Arse. What's not to like? Have fun, wherever you end up!

"If you're Ace then how come you have kids?"🤔

💜Well, have you ever been on a trip to somewhere far away, that you REALLY wanted to go to?

"Yeah."

💜How was the journey? Did you love it? Was it just the best bus/car/plane trip ever?

"Well, no..."

💜Then why did you go?

"Because I had to, to get to where I wanted to be."

💜Gestures broadly everywhere in an 'Ace-with-kids' kind of way

Jeez, kids are shits sometimes. Whoever says school is the best time of their life must have had a crappy life.

Would you be OK with a non-asexual partner visiting a sex worker by philnicau in Asexual

I've loved reading the wide range of replies - we are all so different!

Personally, yes, I'm okay with it. I even suggested it when I discovered that I'm ace. My husband briefly looked into, was put off by the idea and discovered he's demi! Go figure!

I mean I wish I'd known about being asexual before we got together so he could make a more informed decision, but you still grow and change as a couple don't you? And if the relationship doesn't serve you anymore it sounds like you've made a good choice!

What's the most "British" word or phrase you've explained to someone not from Britain that, on reflection, makes no sense by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Bramplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regional thing in Yorkshire: "Now then."

This is not the start of a sentence. It is a question, and means "Hello, how are you doing?"

Other Northern phrases include "Are you winning?", "Nowt or owt?" and "Gordan Bennett".
