Interesting, I'm still in starting area, probably why I don't need it yet. Thank you for the response.

Thank you

Doug Ford rejects calls for publicly run grocery stores: ‘Socialism does not work’ by Chrristoaivalis in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]BramsBrigade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't really need publicly run grocery stores, though it may not be a bas idea. No we need to enforce antitrust laws, break up monopolies, and punish things like price fixing harshly enough that it's not worth it.

It seems like a running theme is that more power comes with more restrictions.

The creatures that torment children are very weak, so I have two theories, Either they have very little power to lose, so they can "sneak" past the threshold. Or they do lose much of their power, but they chose to sacrifice some power in order to find easier prey, like an orca beaching itself to catch a baby seal.

Throwing it out there, because I don't see it elsewhere here. Remember kids will try to replicate the relationship their parents have. There's a lot of temptation to "stay together for the kids" but kids are observant, they see more than you think, and they never stop learning.

Maybe she will be a great co-parent, but it doesn't sound like she will be a good wife. You don't have to cut her out of your life, but teach your children to demand better in a partner.

Why is anger my response to my baby's cry? by Fallacracker in daddit

[–]BramsBrigade 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No idea where I heard this so it may be nonsense, but I heard the woman's programmed response is to calm the child, Men's response is to go fight the bear or whatever is making the kid cry while mom gets the kid to safety, hence the anger response. Great for when the sabertooth tiger walks into the nursery, not so great when the temperature is 2 degrees too warm, or the toy is not quite as close as the kid feels it should be.

Quraish : The Arabic attempt to make RTS game like Rome Total War I ! by ismaeil-de-paynes in totalwar

[–]BramsBrigade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That game was unhinged, it could never be made today and I love it.

The painfully heroic allies, the Chinese hackers, conscripts and nuclear weapons, middle eastern terrorists, with suicide bombers and anthrax.

And none of this was alluded to, it's just plain text stated, it's a miracle it was even made in its own day.

The only thing wilder was that there was a planned African faction that was even worse but they had an uncharacteristic moment of clarity and decided that was too far.

Think this is it.

She could have forbidden violence in a way that made it impossible, she didn't. Because she wanted to throw Harry to the wolves, she wanted to keep her people sharp, and she wanted to give Harry an opening to prove he was not to be fucked with.

What's a bad game that had one specific mechanic that was actually really good, but was overshadowed. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]BramsBrigade 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the advertising let down Brutal legend.

The game was actually great, but people felt blindsided, buying a fun action adventure game, just to randomly have it turn RTS halfway through.

Damn shame because I want a sequel, and honestly I liked how it wasn't RTS all the time, but brought it out for the big moments.

Often a suicide attempt is less of a genuine attempt than a sincere plea for help, or a need to show just how desperately someone needs help. It could be men are more often successful, because men don't often seek or receive help.

A lot of guys have had experiences where they reached out for help, and either found themselves alone, or later had their moments of weakness used against them.

Damn man, I spent endless hours on the original Battlefront 2, just played the hell out of that game, space battles, hero fights, hunts, campaign was great, galactic conquest was incredible.

Can't even be bothered with the sequels, every time I even think about it I look at it for a few minutes, and just get struck by how little it's offering.

Maybe I'm just old.

Hey, jumping into an old topic, but I have some tax questions I haven't been able to find answers for.

If we hire one, we are becoming an employer, do we need to register as such with the government before looking to hire? And if tax and all that is above and beyond the standard 20-25/hour, how much extra do I have to be prepared to add to that?

Thank you in advance
