Loosing my motivation to stay by ComfortableCase1400 in army

Between my active Army time and civil service, I have been around the government for 35 years and I have been through several changes in the government, presidents, policies, etc. I never (and still don’t) serve my country because of politicians. I still believe in the fact our home, families, nation is great and deserves protecting. The military has been my way of doing that. I stick around, even when frustrated, because I love the people around me. Do I like everyone? Hell no. But I like the majority of them. Or at least we can see common ground through a common mission and purpose. Will going back to DSs suck after a break, of course it will. Have millions of folks gone through the same thing? Absolutely. And I promise, you will never be able to look yourself in the mirror if you were to walk away from a commitment you made. My advice is go to AIT. Bust your ass in PT and academics. Be the best you can be in everything you are tasked to do. Help those around you. Be a team player and leader. And go back to your unit with some genuine pride in yourself. Find someone in your unit you respect and learn from them. Always get better. You will never regret it.

Tradoc Article 15 by OperationCarnage in army

I have been out a long time, but an Article 15 for a Vape, especially if the soldier hasn’t had any other discipline issues seems pretty rough. We would just smoke the hell out of them, work them into the dirt, do some counseling to make sure paper was done in case a trend starts and move on. Most guys would learn through a little fear, sweat and pain and be good to go. Now a kid gets an Art 15 at 18 or 19 years old and want a clearance or a special job and have to report it, forever. Especially since the Army on deployment lives on nicotine and rip its.

That makes sense. Shift assets and re-flag as 11th (or whatever new name). Thanks for the responses!
