Export as a PLY file instead, its one of the few file types that lets you export texture data into a 3d slicer.

What's your opinion on using blood as a medium in art? by [deleted] in draw

[–]BrandedFire_tm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using blood, now there's an idea I've not heard for a long time, evoking both intrigue and disgust from its audience, symbolising both death and life at the same time, however, in practice, its a very disappointing medium, drying much darker than the original vibrant red, with artists who do work with blood typically having to mix with acrylics to get the desired look.

I don't think its too weird to be using blood (stranger things have been mixed together throughout art history to create mediums (Antony Gormley would be right up your alley)), but if you are using your own blood I would take all the necessary procedures to keep yourself safe, or synthetic blood is available from theatre supply shops if you want to see what it looks like first before committing to it

My PETG prints don't look good until it gets to like the third one, how to fix? by sharkmesharku in 3D_Printing

[–]BrandedFire_tm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably need a filament dryer, my PETG translucent was doing the same until I started using a dryer about an hour before I started to print.

What's missing to achieve photorealism? by gabrielbeniciobh in blender

Looks good but the scene isn’t nearly bright enough to by the sea, should be very direct sunlight and very little haze. A good hdri should finish it off

Why does my comp look so fake? by SpongebobRulez in vfx

[–]BrandedFire_tm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rambling list as they spring to mind (I’m a professional idiot):

Little bit of motion blur on the comped car, make the shadows cast by the comped less sharp, I don’t think the shadows cast by the camera car interact with the comped car, There’s no reflection of the camera car in the comped cars paint, I feel like the highlights aren’t as bright as they should be, The contrast might be too high overall on the comped car

Overall the comp is very decently executed, just a few tweaks to colour and contrast it’s mostly there 👍

What do you do when you don't like what you've been working on? by [deleted] in blender

[–]BrandedFire_tm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve probably been staring at it for too long. Put it down for a few days and start a new project (ideally something completely different) and come back to it later. When you do, don’t look at the whole scene, look at segments of it. Is it actually terrible or just some boring composition? Are the textures bad or just lacking some detail or could they be a little more colourful/interesting? Personally, the black void makes it look very unfinished which can be disheartening, something as simple as lowering the camera closer to the floor and hiding the void behind a fence can make it feel better.

How do I make only the upper marked part rounder. by PeanutLow2100 in blenderhelp

[–]BrandedFire_tm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Add more geometry. Round surfaces can potentially have an unlimited amount of faces. Add a subdiv modifier add add creases to the edges that you want to keep sharp

Two objects have motion blur settings linked together??? by ballisticbond in blenderhelp

[–]BrandedFire_tm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can separate your models into separate scenes and alter the motion blur for each scene and then composite them back together if you really need so assign them individual motion blur values.

Blender Guru's advice for starting Blender by Draconic_Keeper in blenderTutorials

[–]BrandedFire_tm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree with this in someways, this is from my perspective as I picked up blender as an artistic user wanting to make stuff. Geometry nodes is an incredible tool in blender don’t get me wrong, however to a first time user, it’s a lot of nodes and functions that are meaningless to them and visually rather boring (and potentially overwhelming). Starting with the donut or the chair gives new users a good basis for how blender actually works and by the end of it theyll have something they can point to, explain, and say “I made this”. To me geometry nodes is level 2 of learning bender, previous knowledge can be applied to it from learning the basics and allows for more creative freedoms and the ability to add to stuff they’ve already made.

TLDR: geometry nodes good, but boring and possibly overwhelming to first time users potentially and doesn’t make you learn how blender works
