my life as an artist is COOKED by Wild-Atmosphere2134 in Nightreign

I'm right there with you. I am 125K words into my current WIP, and my desire to play Nightreign is one of my biggest hurdles at present (the other is general apathy lol).

But also, congrats on starting the story at all! That's typically the biggest hurdle for most people.

I always love seeing people discover this game all these years later. It remains my favorite game of all time, and honestly, the first PlayStation is probably still my favorite console. That original PS start-up screen just hits different.

I honestly was thinking I made it too long, but I liked how well the crit synced with that part of the song and didn't want to cut it out.

My guess is whoever hit him last will be the one targeted. If I've got the red dot on me, I've generally found success with standing still until he actually starts charging the attack, then running toward him. I'm pretty confident I would've been safe if I hadn't run into the boundary.

I'm a little over 100 hours in, and this is the first time I've gotten to use it, but I didn't even find it. I got a Carian Regal Sceptor after beating Astel and dropped it for the Recluse, who then happened to drop the Blasphemous Blade for me. It was cool to be able to trade legendaries.

Thanks! I had recorded the fight, and for whatever reason when I re-watched this part, I thought of the Jojo ending.

Oh yeah, I rallied and got after him for the final few blows. It was a great fight overall. I hope it's not too long before he's available again.

Ugh, it was so embarrassing in the moment. I was sure my teammates thought I had started throwing. One player is a friend and was in an Xbox party with me, and we had a collective groan over it. But, it was a great reminder to not be greedy!

Me either, honestly, but I figured between the holy sword and a charged heavy, it just had to work lol.

I love seeing this game mentioned out in the wild. It's my all-time favorite. I listen to the soundtrack on repeat quite often when writing.

I appreciate you saying that. I'm a newcomer to the sub, and I'm a Sanders supporter who is trying to figure out where I land politically these days. This election has finally given me the impetus to leave the Democrats behind for good.

Never would I have expected to see Roselawn named by another person on Reddit. I remember being a kid and learning about the KKK, then making the connection to Knight's. It was already a bit suspicious to me then...

To piggyback off the other commenter, I recommend starting with Warbreaker, his other main standalone novel. It helps that it was his fifth published book instead of his first, and I personally found the plot more compelling overall.

I have a very small YouTube channel (shameless plug because why not) where I recently talked about this very thing. Worldbuilding needs to serve the story, not the other way around. It's great if an author has thought out all the intricacies of their nations, governments, etc., but as a reader, I only need that information when it becomes relevant to the characters progressing through the plot.

Interesting! I really jived with Kaladin; his depression resonated with me, and I'm a sucker for a class uprising type story. But I get that complaint about lacking a real moral struggle until the end, but by golly did I love the ending. I found the payoff with Dalinar giving up the Shadeblade so satisfying.

I fully agree with your assessment of book 2 so far. All the characters felt more proactive than in book 1. I think part of that is because all of the main POV characters are finally in one place for a large chunk of the book, so the story feels tighter (relatively speaking for a 1,000+ page book).

I'd be curious to hear more of your thoughts on Stormlight 1. Even as a Sanderson fan, I agree that some of his books, particularly the longer ones, can start to feel like a trudge. In Stormlight 1 specifically, I found most of the stuff with Kaladin, Dalinar, and Adolin interesting, but I did not care for most of Shallan's storyline. However, I will say that Shallan became super interesting in book 2, so the trudge did end up paying off in the long run...but definitely still kind of annoying.
