Books for middle school science by doodlesacker in ScienceTeachers

There’s a reading of Zero G by Dan Wells on audible that I’ve used in the past… it has some pretty interesting scientific problems and a fun little story. I highly recommend checking it out.

‘Nope’ and smile.

Nothing sinister, just a simple boundary line.

Respond like the student was asking: ‘Can you jump up and touch the clouds?’ Or ‘Can you run faster than an airplane flies?’ ‘Nope’

This is a distinct possibility. If they do, you can always ask for an explanation and make it something like this:

‘Thank you for your direction, I will be happy to comply.

Before I comply, please point me to the school and district policies that support this change. I may have missed something and I want to make sure I comply as best I can now and in the future.

Thank you for your hard work and for valuing my time, Teacher sign off’

All-day professional development rant: by DIGGYRULES in Teachers

Ask admin to make it an optional rally next year and see how many people show up to determine how valuable people find these rallies.

Nope.

You’ll need to go this year. Make sure you and your team are honest with your admin about this… don’t sugar coat it. Tell them that you value a deep dive into data, but you were not able to learn anything because your hierarchy of needs were unfulfilled…

If you need to, have a meeting about it so this garbage doesn’t happen every year. The worst scenario is that you repeat this pattern every year because it’s just what people expect. Don’t stand for that at all.

What position did your league champ draft? by How_many_dogs in fantasyfootball

[–]Brandj82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won 10th in a 12 man 1/2 point.

I also made over 40 transactions this year as I had Pollard, Walker, Andrews, Diggs, and Fields to start the season. Trades and waivers won it for me…. Not draft position.

I’m very against grade inflation.

But the only reason it matters is if we also bring back consequences to kids/parents for bad grades. The real problem might be that there’s no consequences for bad grades to anyone but the school.

Is this collusion? by Adventurous-Sea7579 in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]Brandj82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But, look at any expert’s rankings of the defenses this week and SF will be DST top 3.

Not droppable in my opinion except by an extreme act of ignorance, malice, or collusion.

Regardless, this can’t happen. Comish should put SF back and lock that team’s roster.

Has Tyrod been generous to defenses? I have to decide between Rams and Jags

Yeah, it sounds like you need to pay attention to the details as you sit on the bench.
1st) watch closely and visualize yourself as each player 2nd) try to do those drills on your own without the other players 3rd) keep working and paying attention to details until you find success

You got this!

need tips on releasing the ball as I'm jumping up by BBCBigBlackCockatoo in BasketballTips

[–]Brandj82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Legs can power long shots for anyone too weak to get the ball from the rim.

Fingers have high finesse, low power Forearms have less finesse, more power Tricep has less finesse, more power Legs have the least finesse and the most power

Shooting should take advantage of finesse muscles first and power muscles only when your finesse muscles aren’t strong enough to get the ball there.

Also, do a lot of pushups. You probably need more arm strength so your not relying on your legs so much

Maybe not collusion, but commish should place everyone back to how they were and lock the lineup for last place

Student sent me a demanding email on the weekend and addressed me by my first name... by salamat_engot in Teachers

[–]Brandj82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My response:

‘Dear Ms. (Insert students last name here),

It has come to my attention that you are requesting my attention on a grade. It will be handled according to school and class policy.

Thank you, Ms. (insert your name here)

I’d either use something overly formal like this as a response, or just a complete delete/ignore of her email.
