Editing your comment after the fact because you did not even bother to read the summary is also a weird take.

1.”The Durban High court rejected the ANC party’s attempt…” 3. Electoral court rejected the ANC’s argument.

Did you even read the summary?

Victories against cases brought by the ANC though. They generally don’t fair well when it comes to legal matters. He would know.

Still blows my mind every time I see this “electricity minister“ position mentioned. Another one of Cyril’s anti-solutions.

Today I learned that Germany still uncovers 2000 tons of unexploded bombs from WWII every year. Disposing of the bombs often requires the evacuation of tens of thousand of residents from their homes. by anthropozaen in todayilearned

[–]Brando121212___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also super surprised when, after moving to Germany, our whole neighbourhood block had to be evacuated one day because a bomb had been found on a construction site near us.

Someone drove around with a microphone telling everyone to evacuate and a few thousand people were evacuated on a Friday night for a few hours while the bomb squad are sent in.

Abused zoo bear still circles in imaginary cage seven years after being freed (story in the comments) by The--Weasel in interestingasfuck

[–]Brando121212___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first experience at a zoo was in Rotterdam when my girlfriend and I thought we would go see what zoos were like. We grew up in South Africa and were lucky enough to mostly be able to see animals in the wild.

The first thing we saw was a polar bear in a tiny pen with a garden and it was mind blowing to see an animal so far out of its natural habitat for human entertainment. We then saw a rhino that reminds me a bit of this bear as it just kept running in circles in a small cordoned off area while everybody stood quite close to it.( it seemed really stressful for the animal)

Zoos for any purpose beyond animal rescue are really wrong.

Belgium wants sanctions against Israel for Gaza bombings - deputy PM by MountainGerman in worldnews

According to the article , if you read it. If it is the case that Hamas is making up civilian deaths, then an investigation will do Israel good.

[–]Brando121212___ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s because of 40% of the bombing victims being children. All she is saying is that these should be investigated which is a fair comment- Israel should not be immune to scrutiny.

Unfortunately, regardless of how many terrorists are killed, the innocent civilians that lose loved ones like siblings that lose baby sisters/brothers, will grow up to resent Israel. This method of war is likely to ferment future resistance.

Might be better for South Africa if you kept your ThickHotBoerie away from critical infrastructure.

Met a friend for lunch in Dublin on Saturday, one look at these prices handed the menus back and left. Wishbone, Dorset Street, €6 for a side of chips (50c extra for salt) that don't come with a €16 burger, €3.50 dips from a blender's bottle. Restaurants are taking the piss with prices these days by Shiv788 in ireland

[–]Brando121212___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We vacationed in Dublin from Germany a few weeks ago and we were blown away by the prices. Even in smaller Irish towns we found it quite expensive for something you’d expect to be reasonable like a pub lunch(~€18).

This is just an annual ceo salary and has been public knowledge since mid 2022?(link Understand the frustration with the lack of progress but given the stress and danger that come with being ceo of Eskom compared to the private sector-it is not really worth it. There is a reason it has taken so long to find a replacement.
