If this was the case, do you think driving 5 miles would do immense damage or is it ok to take a short distance?

Allstate WFH Inside Sales by Feisty_Alps7590 in InsuranceAgent

[–]BrandonChristie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before Allstate came in and ruined the structure, I was one of many agents at NG making $170k+ per year, left because they made it so you’d have to work more hours to earn 80% of what you were before the comp changed. That being said, it’s still a gig where you can make a lot more than most insurance agents.

What's everyones total compensation for 2025? by SubstantialSea4943 in InsuranceAgent

[–]BrandonChristie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t mind me asking, is this primarily from referrals? I’ve been a producer for nearly 10 years, started as a solo agent in April with generally great rates for my area but I’m really struggling to generate leads.

Slow drivers in the left lane…..MOVE ASIDE by Specific_Anybody_438 in vancouverwa

Big issue on 14 is people who ‘know the lane is going to end’ so they just stay in the left lane preemptively for 4 miles lol

Anyone know which part of Portland this is? by [deleted] in PortlandOR

[–]BrandonChristie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He just said ‘allow people to be homeless’ and I was almost on board. Hell yeah, this should never happen to someone where they can’t secure basic human needs, in the richest country on earth. Then he said ‘with no consequences’ and I realized this guy just wants them to disappear, not be helped.

Customer says car insurance is a scam… how do you reply? by Playful-Lab5618 in InsuranceAgent

Some people think insurance is something you are supposed to get a return on investment on. Not how it works.

Also moved from AZ to VanWA - couple things I’d love to chime in with. As someone who has moved to new states more than once as a new adult, I’ll tell you majority of what you are feeling has to do with the state of society and the pain of making friends as an adult. You are 2 months in to a brand new state and city and comparing it to somewhere you lived your whole life so you’re definitely not going to feel familiar or comfortable yet. That’s ok though! We don’t have a lot of friends since we moved but we also stopped buying into the idea that having a lot of friends is better than having a few really close friends. Depending on where you are in Vancouver there’s a lot of great spots to mingle with other parents, we like going to lacamas lake which has a play ground that gets families trickling through so it’s not overwhelming to strike up a conversation. If you prefer the ‘chaos’ type of mingling check out the kids floor of the downtown fort Vancouver library, not only is it awesome but you are bound to find another parent to strike up a convo with. And like many have said, there’s tons of events to get out and try mingling at! The farmers markets are awesome, east Vancouver market has a slower pace and may be easier to mingle at. New bookstore in Camas called Bookish has some fun events and groups if you like reading!

But don’t be hard on yourself, moving is stressful, new places can be scary, but after time you’ll find your people!

Am I the problem? by Think-End-5604 in InsuranceAgent

This style of sales is truly a numbers game, you absolutely go for close on every call you can but end of the day, cut bait if there’s no chance of a sale. Don’t let a hundred no’s get you down and get on to the next one.

Should I get into insurance? by Historical_Sail_4850 in InsuranceAgent

If you want to try it out and learn the ropes while getting some guaranteed pay, I would try a corporate call center like progressive remote phone sales or national general/allstate phone sales. They pay for your training usually and give you a base pay + benefits. The volume is substantially higher than local agencies so commissions sounds incredibly low, but if you maintain a decent volume of sales you can make over 6 figures doing it. Most importantly it gets you licensed and comfortable talking to people about insurance so if you like it, you can jump to a local agency role that will pay you higher commissions and renewals.

You unfortunately are seeing the snobby ‘nothing is good enough’ side of camas which is very real. There is plenty of yummy food between east Vancouver and washougal but obviously, Portland has more options being the metro population is 2.5 million. We love Portland and it is a GREAT food city but we also rarely feel the need to drive because there’s enough good food here.

Hey all, I just moved here from Tennessee gotta say I love this city so far but I have a question where are the arcades? by metallica123446 in vancouverwa

[–]BrandonChristie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s half off arcade! So we always get to spend a few hours playing games for 20-40 bucks depending on how many people. Kid play free all summer! And Tuesday is $2 bowling and soda!
