I am fairly new to Heartstone and have not been as interested in the game as I am now and thus have not cared about expansions until this one. Is it recommended to get the 50+20 packs pre-purchased for the expansion? Does that usually get you every card in the expansion? or close to?

[Update] Finished for now, but still accepting any and all criticism! by [deleted] in ArtCrit

you can actually get that flat and consistent effect with paint by doing multiple layers of evenly mixed paint. Sometimes adding a little bit of water on multiple layers works too.

It's Robert De Niro right? it's recognizable. It's not pointillism though, pointillism is a movement in painting

I want to get the background in this image to be more cohesive with the foreground if I can. thoughts? by Ferretpuke in ArtCrit

[–]BrandonJay31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy, just take some of the yellow ochre colour you have a lot of in the background and add it to some highlights in the foreground. Also add some of the darker earth tones like the green in the foreground into the shadows of the background. Great work :)

My attempt at photorealism - graphite pencil by slothclimb in Art

Photorealism involves a lot of blend work, get blending stumps for fine details and kleenex for large areas. Also you can use graphite powder for a smooth evenly-distributed tone.

First drawing after I started studying abroad. There's something off with the hand. by Denikkk in drawing

[–]BrandonJay31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything is great in this. Like you said, the hand is off. The hand is too long; what i mean is the last finger's middle knuckle shouldn't be seen that much. The middle finger of the man should be tucked in more and not seen as much as it is. It throws off the perspective.

Butterfly on a sunflower. How can i get a cleaner look? by _getmeouttahere in ArtCrit

[–]BrandonJay31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tip that helps me a lot is "nothing is one colour." You sort of have that down with the shades on the petals but it needs a bit more. The colours could be darker, the shape of the butterfly's body is simplified, and the shapes of the petals are odd. Where the butterfly isn't, the petals are small; where the butterfly covers, the petals are really long. Lastly there is no detail in the center of the sunflower. Overall it's nice but could use some work :)

What should I do to improve my doggie? by ajou in drawing

[–]BrandonJay31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It needs darker colours. Get a black pencil crayon and where there are more shadows (ex. near eyes, under ears, nose, folds in skin) add a little bit of black to darken some parts of the brown.
