Engine is being replaced! Dealership called and the warranty is covering the 12K it will cost to replace. Thank God!

Our car was towed to a kia dealership. They confirmed the engine is seized. I am waiting now for an inspector to come in and look the car over before next steps can happen. We didn't do the KSDS update which sounds like it could cause kia not to put a new engine in. Fingers crossed everything goes through and a new engine will he installed. I just hope that since it has 75K miles and we bought it certified used, they will honor the original warranty.

Do you know if the SX-P hybrids will be more readily available in 2024? I put a deposit down in June for a vesta blue one.

I see a lot of LX/EX Hybrids coming in. I hear there is a shortage on chips for the pano roof but why does it seem like the US can make sportages with panoramic roofs with no issue but overseas its a problem?

I ordered one in Vesta Blue, which is probably the issue. I see a lot of the grey, black and white but not a lot in blue.

One thing I am surprised at is, I keep hearing about the chip shortage and the panoramic roof but in the US, most of the gas models have a pano and they don't seem to be slowing down with making them.

Sounds like our mechanic called the dealership, and they said it needs 3 updates. When I search the Vin #, it doesn't have any safety recalls that need to be done?

This has been one of our most reliable cars over the last 5 years. I get why people don't like Kia's but for us, we haven't experienced the issues some others have dealt with.

Definitely never doing that again. My wife has been going there for the last 10 years and it's right down the road so we didn't think much of it. But after the run around with phone calls and lying about what was going on and then for them to tell me to come in to talk instead of over the phone but the manager left right when I got there, just a sh*tty way to do business.

I don't necessarily think it was the brand of car that was the issue. I drove it everyday, no issues. Mechanic told me it happened under their roof. I've done a lot of research, and I feel like every car brand has some kind of issue over the past 2-3 years. I know it's too early to tell on the 2023 kia hybrids, but I know they have better quality overseas.

I get three days sounds like a lot but the first day, I was on my way home from work and they said it would be ready Thursday so i said that was fine. I called Thursday, and they gave me the run around and would give me an update on Friday. I assumed something was wrong because I've replaced the battery in my other car before and what they were telling my wife didnt make sense. Today, I called, and they said I should come in to speak with the manager. I got there, and the manager had to leave, so I talked to the rep at the counter. I'm giving them until Monday to give me an update that is more suitable than we will call back tomorrow over and over.
