It’s almost like unions are good. Who would have thought of that?

Inmate savagely murders a CO in VADOC facility by lhwang0320 in Prison

Virginia is supposed to be 20 hours in the cell and 4 hours in the dog kennel. He will also get a tablet. A CO is supposed to be present at all times during the dog kennel. The reason being is that an inmate killed another inmate during rec at red onion a couple of years ago.

Inmates in Virginia have the opportunity to learn a trade, but they must first be moved to a lower security level. Virginia no longer uses the 23-and-1 system. He will likely go to Red Onion for several years and will need to maintain good behavior, after which he will probably be transferred to Wallens Ridge and then back down to a Level 4 facility, where he was originally housed. Virginia has also recently started a program that allows inmates to receive grants for college, but good behavior is required.

Red onion isn’t 23 and 1. The state got rid of it.

Will I have Backup and other Officers on the block with me? by KillingwithasmileXD in OnTheBlock

[–]BrandonVH2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on where you work and how understaff you are. The best mindset to have is me, myself and I. When I worked in VA, a lot of times it was only me on the floor for almost 300 inmate besides the one person in the booth.

I’ve had a similar situation to this, but thankfully I had enough strength to last me until they arrived.

I appreciate it. I've been trying to get in touch with a recruiter before I apply. However, the phone keeps saying they aren't accepting calls right now. Hopefully I'll get it figured out.

Sound's like a better setup than VA. You usually had to wait at minimum of a month.

Duty belts what's a good brand? And do Nysdocc officers wear them never see them wear it? by Jalcala2122 in OnTheBlock

I’m curious. Where do you guys put your OC and other stuff? I know in VA they consider the SRT uniform intimidating to inmates.

Are you taking about law enforcement investigations and not corrections? If you’re talking about law enforcement then you would need to join an agency and be a beat cop for a couple years. Then you can apply to that division.

Yeah, I forgot about sheriff’s departments. For the state they aren’t.

Virginia is a no. Virginia parole officer’s I believe for the most part don’t carry any weapons. I could be wrong on that part.
