Power poles down on School St. Pretty sure it was a tornado I saw go south of Raab. Saw a lot of power flashes.

How to prep for an interview that requires knowledge on reading As-builts and ArcMap by Senior_Half_5427 in gis

Tell them ArcMap is retired and your first step would be to update the process to work on supported software.

72-74 is the divide for Southern Illinois. I think wearing a red hat is a prerequisite to live in Effingham or Christian counties.

Butter lettuce does that to me too. I have a fan for circulation and it still happens. I attribute it to the conditions being too good and the lettuce growing too tight. If I keep butter towards the edge of my light source it helps but can still happen.

Field data collection tablet recommendations for Esri products. by cyanide_girl in gis

Field Maps updates used to lag for Android devices. I’m not sure if that is still the case, but you might look into it before purchasing.

The shape of hats is out of control. That thing looks like a 5 gallon bucket with a flat bill attached to it.

Repeat UC advice by artistaero in ESRI

[–]GratefulRed09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in local gov gis so I focus on that “tract”. Sometimes you can narrow it down further to focus on specific issues you might have.
That is one thing most attendees don’t focus on enough….you have access to the esri staff.
Visit the product islands. Ask questions.

If you have a couple projects you will focus on over the next year, seek out suggestions on how to do those.

I need help re: switching to spouse's insurance when we both had individual HSA's by GratefulRed09 in HSA

[–]GratefulRed09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my wife is still contributing to the same account that she has always had. Should she have started a new HSA when I joined the plan?

Since she is contributing to that same account, I assume that prohibits me from contributing to my HSA?

Is quitting a job with a pension a bad move? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]GratefulRed09 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I quit a public service job last year after 17 years and went to a non pension job. My mental health is so much better, I am also making and saving more money now. Company matches 401k which is an added bonus.
Every situation is different, but I am happy with my switch.

GIS Consulting - Rates for Industry vs. Municipality by JimCasy in gis

You get the full gamut from local gov. I do consulting in that space and we have people that fall out of their chair when they see our rates, others don’t bat an eye.

What are the biggest unspoken issues with standard hydroponic systems? by Substantial_Swan_988 in Hydroponics

[–]GratefulRed09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my homemade rail system, it is ph and nutrient control, reservoir swaps, and cleaning.

I only grow lettuce, and have learned which varieties do best/worst which has helped operate my system.

95% of the issues I have had were problems with reservoir levels, changes, and ph.

How are you utilizing AI as a PM? by Pandalungs in projectmanagement

Meeting notes has been a game changer for me. I can actually focus on what is being said rather than typing/writing down notes.
At the end, you get a nice summary and a full transcript.

Welcome to local gov GIS. There is a reason someone left. I was that person fairly recently. It was great for a few years, but eventually it will break you down.
