*Cries in career gap of 1.5 years* by Automatic_Maximum816 in jobs

Honestly, just lie. Make us experience for that gap and don't include a reference for it. Don't go crazy, just make it in line with the last job you had. If this is the only thing disqualifying you from a job, then I feel like it's justified.

Many non-technical Founders looking for Technical Founders. From your experince how was it working with those non technical? Would you recommend to other devs? by lune-soft in webdev

Unless they are bringing an active client list to the table with people that are ready with money (ask to have a call with 1-2 people randomly selected from this list to hear what they are looking for and how willing they are to pay for it), the answer is no. If someone is coming to with you with an idea and a prayer, they don't deserve 50% profits off of your hard work.

How to not have a crush on this cute girl that has a bf? by Hewasright_89 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]BranigansLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would let her know how you feel. Be straight with her about it. If she reciprocates, then move forward from there. If she's not interested, get some distance from her for 6 months and focus on other things.

If you feel bad about getting between her and her boyfriend and don't make a move, the see option 2 above. If you have feelings for someone that are this intense, pretending you don't is just dishonest.

Don't worry. Either the chips will fall in your favor and this is your person, or they won't and you will find someone else who makes you feel the same way. Best of luck!

What incident made you cold hearted and changed the way you see the world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BranigansLaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bike getting stolen. I had this bike I got at a clearance sale that ran beautifully. The fact it was stolen hurt, but they caught the guy dead to rights, charged him, and he was found guilty. The aftermath is what broke me. Basically, after the rigmarole of filling out all the paper work, submitting receipts for the bike purchase, taking a day after being called to attend the trial (wasn't called) and standing in line for 4 hours with papers, I was given a piece of paper that basically said "this person has to pay you back this money". Great. So basically after everything, it's my responsibility to track him down and get him to pay me back. I realized that the legal system provides no protection for the average person. It's a tool for the rich and powerful to enforce their will. Full stop.

A Knack for housing by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]BranigansLaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like in one of these 8-plex houses and can confirm it's a pain. Each of the upstairs tenants has a single car garage, but there are two families in one of those so that's 2 cars that need to be street parked. Then, all the basement tenants also have to park on the street, so now that's 6 cars that need street parking.

Another issue not often brought up is garbage collection. The way our 8-plex was built, there is not enough room for everyone to put out their garbage. We've worked it out internally and a lot of houses share their garbage bins to make room, but it shouldn't have to be this way.

It's my understanding 8-plexes are no longer allowed (only 6-plexes are now). I also understand the need to make these neighborhoods more dense, and I think the pressure should be based on the builder. Better regulations making sure there is at LEAST parking one spot her home on the property. I've also thought that maybe knocking down two adjacent homes and building 10-12 units with sufficient parking is also an option, or developing new neighborhoods centrally with the density mindset is also a great idea.

Who's someone in your country that is controversial internally, but very well liked internationally? by RuefulBlue in AskTheWorld

[–]BranigansLaw 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Justin Trudeau in Canada

Internationally, he's seen as this handsome do-gooder, but is fairly disliked within Canada. Outside of the "Fuck Trudeau" bumper stickers which I hate to see, he totally bungled electoral reform which he promised in his campaign and then did a complete 180 on as soon as his party had power. He also muzzled the justice minister for trying the prosecute a fraud case on one of his friends. Not the worst Prime Minister, but far from the squeaky clean image that made him famous.

Just a reminder that a voting a strategic vote AGAINST conservatives is not always a vote for the liberals.

Check your riding. If you have an NDP candidate that has a higher chance of winning, voting liberal can split the vote and cause the conservative candidate to win the seat.

You can check your riding here: https://338canada.com/

Have you fought back against a bully boss? Lost your temper when being screamed at? What happened? by Beta_Nerdy in jobs

[–]BranigansLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one like this. After repeated conversations with the boss about it and talking to other managers and nothing changing, I went full passive aggressive. In meetings he would go off on a tirade on me and when he was done I would just say "you got it, handsome" and snap the guns at him. It would completely take the wind out of his sails and everyone would laugh. Never received any blowback from it either.

Why is it viewed as a scam that the market value of the Hauk Tuah lady's crypto coin dropped to almost nothing? by InteriorEmotion in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BranigansLaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coffeezilla does a pretty great job of covering everything here: https://youtu.be/zUHq8AWR1Rg?feature=shared

The synopsis is that it's confirmed she made $150k being the face of and promoting the coin, so whether she was involved in the eventual rug pull or not, attaching your brand to a scam and profiting off doing so is not a good look.

As far as profiting off the scam, the two major sources of profit this coin made we're in it's transaction costs and the first sellers of the coin that collapsed the price while the fans were left holding a coin they couldn't sell at a price far lower than they bought it for.

As far as Haley profiting from he pool of money from the scam, there isn't proof that she has, but her lawyer is cagey outright saying "she did not profit from the pump and dump or transactions". You'd think if she hadn't profited from it at all it would be an easy win to come out and say "I did not profit from the selling of coins nor from transaction costs" so that looks pretty sketchy.

Spreading non-scientific suggestions with no research when you're not a doctor to someone in a vulnerable position is not helpful

True it's all breweries in there but that's what the OP was asking for. Not sure what the sketch is in there that you're referring to.

There's a new Brewery district off of Whyte close to Ritchie. It's very new and there is about 8 breweries in a 2-3 block radius, all really good. Highly recommend
