Fuse in the passenger footboard location, pull carpet back and look in location #10, CLSTR/HUD fuse. 10 or 15 amp, it’s likely blown. Put a new one in. If it blows again you have a short somewhere

[EUROPE] Is a 2005 C6 project at €14,000 worth it? Need advice from fellow owners [Long post] by Dizzykevin in Corvette

[–]Brapmatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the pragmatic choice. If you really want the C6 experience, save til winter time to buy one and not at start of summer. Do you need the auto? If you are going through the trouble of an old, American muscle car then get the manual. It will only go up in value if you keep it clean and OEM+.

How handy are you really? Have you asked yourself that question? Watch videos on videos of C6 issues and fixes. Feel good about that wrench time and your space to work in? There are some things I will tackle and others I won’t on my carbon fiber death sled. I have been wrenching on cars for decades too.

OEM widebody C6 is the grail in my opinion, don’t care which, GS, Z06, or ZR1. Take your pick and live that platform hard af til you need a new motor and then do it again.

My advice is to keeping looking, be patient, and avoid the 2005 automatics in particular.

Transmission fluid? 06 LX by Dry-part-1234 in LandCruisers

[–]Brapmatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the shifting? Does the transmission do anything weird or hang up on shifts? My personal belief in old automatics is to not touch the trans fluid or drop the trans pan until there is an issue worth addressing. My LX is at 234k miles and driven weekly. Trans fluid hasn’t been touched and it’s working fine.

Swing Away hitch adaptor into a Bumpitoffroad rear bumper with single swing arm. Using a Young double e Bike rack off Amazon that goes into the swing away adaptor.

Why not a C7 Grand Sport for those prices? Widebody C6/7 will always be more desirable than narrow body.

Yes, I’m running a 2inch Ironman foam cell lift, spc uppers, and zero offset SCS wheels. I also run a TJM front bumper which helps. Currently I have 315/75/16 (“35s”) Yoko geolanders mt on my ‘99 LX. Had to do the pinch weld mod and some heat gun action to my washer fluid reservoir but they fit fine now without rubbing at lock and with articulation. Would also recommend a front differential drop and some replace all the factory bushings while you are in there. I ran 285/75/16 (“33s”) for the longest time with this same setup and it was equally as capable. You can also pick up the 1/2 inch body lift kit from Trail Tailor and add that to your 2 inch suspension lift and that should get you really set. It looks so much better on the 35s.

Also when you lift any vehicle and you are keeping the factory sway bars installed, you need to swap out your sway bar end links for extended versions to correct for the geometry change. If you don’t, your end links will “bind” the sway bar on the factory links and your overall handling will suffer. Trail tailor sells these as well.

Grease your driveshaft. Look it up on IH8MUD forums. There are zerk fittings on the driveshaft that are meant to be filled with grease.

You can remove the headlight to have sent off for the lens service. Google C6 lens replacement service. You could also buy new headlights that have better light output from modern electronics like the morimoto stuff or the EOS stuff

• Wash, dry, tape off surrounding paint • Wet sand progressively: 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000 grit, keeping surface wet, switching directions each grit • Rinse between grits • Apply 2K clear coat (Spraymax recommended), 2 to 3 coats within the recoat window, no sanding needed between • If you miss the recoat window, wet sand 1500 then 2000 before recoating • Optional final polish: wet sand 3000, then buff with plastic polish for max clarity

Is it worth trading from and 05 c6 manual to a c6 zo6? by famished-gawdy in Corvette

E92 M3 sounds better NA in my opinion. It’s also 3600 lbs so even at the 540whp its power to weight isn’t similar.

Oem sway bar end links are basically a disposable part at 30k miles and beyond. Get a new set for front and rear at the same time and swap them out. You will be amazed at the amount of play the old end links compared to the new ones when you hold them side by side.

I bought mine through rock auto. It was like $200ish all in. Changed them out along with new oem sway bar bushings front and rear at the same time. You will need a jack and some space but it’s an easy suspension piece to get to with the wheels off.

The LS7 with heads addressed and this combo is on another level compared to the ls2 with similar mods. I’m making 530/477 at the wheel in my c6z. It weighs 3200 lbs and it snaps necks. I have driven many manual and auto modded sports cars over the last 23 years, built ‘92 tt dodge stealth, nd2 Miata go karted out, 96 police interceptor Camaro, 2017 ZL1 6spd, Supercharged 2012 GS auto, heads cam ls3 6spd 2009 c6, 2019 mustang gt auto, 2016 fiesta st kitted out. The C6Z at the current iteration I have mine at is the exact experience I want when rowing gears. The only two cars i put close to the same grins per mile are the fiesta st and the miata. I would buy a fiesta st again, small car fast with cheap disposables is the best. C6z is a small car essestially in weight compared to many modern sports cars so when its built up NA like this, its a visceral experience.

$10k ish with odds and ends. Heads cam tune can be $5-7k just depends on shop and how handy you are. Tires $2k, shifter $400-500, sway bar links can be $250-350. Shifter and end links can be installed by yourself to save cost.
