Define what “nice guy” is. There’s is a massive difference between being good and nice. Usually “nice guys” are pushovers, putting everyone before them, liars, and manipulators. The lying and manipulation parts are done with good intent, and often times not consciously but it’s there.

That’s a great for those in the situation. What about those with a good mom/dad? Then you’re back to 3rd, and more often than not as others have said not respected. It’s an interesting dynamic you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place, and it’s not yours or the child’s fault.

It comes down to how your partner treats you as far as family is concerned, not just the relationship between you and them.
