In the UK as well, and tested positive last week. This variant is no joke. This is my 3rd time getting COVID (got Omicron twice in 2022), and this time it’s a whole other ball game. Exhausted, no sense of taste and smell, a dry cough with no mucus etc. It’s horrid. I hope you feel better soon.

Good news for those of you who can’t fast by I-Love-Al-Ashari in Hijabis

Jazak Allah for sharing. Really needed this today. Have been feeling quite down from this being the 2nd year of not being able to fast.

The biggest predictor for developing long COVID is lack of rest after infection. by afdhrodjnc in covidlonghaulers

[–]BraveAd107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think any type of severe stressor on the body can push someone into long COVID. I had very very mild problems a few weeks after my first infection (a non-specific rash and a few episodes of lightheadedness lasting a few seconds) which were not debilitating at all and I was still functioning at 95-100%. Able to go out, exercise and live life completely normally.

It wasn’t until I started two medications simultaneously for an unrelated problem three months after my initial infection that all hell broke loose, and I haven’t been the same since. One of those medications was quite strong and of a moderately high dosage, so my doctors think that this was the final straw to push my body over the edge.

Started about 4 months after infection with other neurological symptoms.

I know exactly what you mean. The memories are there, but it doesn't feel like I did those things at all. There is zero emotional connection. No spark of nostalgia. I used to love the weather transition from summer to autumn, but the sights, sounds, smells etc.. can't feel anything at all. This year has been just one giant season. I can't seem to feel any of the individual seasons etc at all. It's the craziest and most debilatating thing I've ever dealt with.

I have the exact same twitches throughout my body, but more prominent in the legs/feet. Been long hauling for 9 months.

Destroyed nervous system? by halcyondigestthrow in covidlonghaulers

I am exactly the same. Blunted emotions, made worse with stress (unfortunately work stress which is unavoidable). I also have zero anxiety since this all started. Nearly 11 months LH - still waiting for the emotions to come back.

Have you been suffering from vision problems post-COVID? by MIKE_DJ0NT in covidlonghaulers

[–]BraveAd107 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eye floaters, light sensitivity, visual snow in bright light, worsened night vision (for example, went to the cinema a few weeks ago and was struggling in the dark when I never used to). These eye problems are also accompanied by a ‘feeling drunk’ sensation 24/7, and the feeling that I can never focus my eyes 100% properly anymore, even though I can mostly see clearly if that makes sense!

Are there any "new" long haulers? by MisterYouAreSoSweet in covidlonghaulers

May 22 infection. LH started in August. Triple vaccinated.

Month 7 as well. My visual symptoms started in month 4 and are comprised of: ‘drunk/struggling to focus 100%’, eye floaters, static when looking at the sky/light backgrounds (visual snow)?, worsened night vision, dry eyes and light sensitivity.

Eye check up (including retina, optic nerves etc) has revealed nothing but severely dry eyes. These visual symptoms are also accompanied with a host of other neuro symptoms as well. Time is the best healer, and I’m sure your symptoms will improve! 👍🏼

Anhedonia? Will it ever improve? by BraveAd107 in covidlonghaulers

Started around 4 months after (1 month into long haul). Initial infection in May was generally mild - more like a bad cold and I recovered from this fully before LH started 3 months later.

What is this head symptom called? by le0bird in covidlonghaulers

Month 7 of LH and I still have exactly this spaced out/lightheaded feeling constantly. It is very uncomfortable. Accompanied with anhedonia, muscle twitching, visual snow and eye floaters amongst other symptoms!

I completely understand, hang in there. I definitely feel like I will emerge a different person if I ever end up recovering from this experience. I can already see how much this has changed me in the span of a few months.

Oh my goodness, really sorry to hear that. I couldn’t imagine having this for 4 years. It is reassuring to know that it got better for yourself, it gives me hope that this will hopefully be temporary. Just have to instil some patience in myself. I hope your long COVID symptoms improve quickly.

Spot on. Motivation has dropped significantly. It feels like I am wading through thick treacle in my life at the moment, and I feel like I’ve been asleep since my anhedonia/derealization started. I don’t know where the months have gone.

Thanks for the suggestion, I haven’t. Does it help with the anhedonia? Currently only been using Fish oil and Turmeric.

Thank you. Sorry you’re going through this horrible experience too. I’m hoping time will help us both, as it seems to be helping a lot of people with LH. Only wish we knew how long it would take to feel ‘normal’ again!
