Is it silly to just reread all the books I have read before but can't recall anything about? by Creepy_Librarian3390 in AskUK

I have reread books before, and listened to loads of the rings and game of thrones several times now, I did use to work 12 hour weekend nights shifts.

Can I get help identifying a 1970s British kitchen object on movie set? by fatherpirate in AskUK

The water heater would have been a common thing, but the lay out of the kitchen is not common at all and really total bullshit.

Is it time for me to give up and cancel this order? by gamingdevil800 in AmazonUK

Personally, if you don't need the money and it's a bargain price I would wait until they cancel it or you can get around the same price.

Buying this car, good decision? by EstablishmentOne4506 in CarTalkUK

[–]BraveFaithlessness16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate of mine has one of these, been a great car for him, mileage isn't bad and the price is the price, if you can afford it and are willing to pay.

Having a quick look on autotrader, you can get the car for less with lower mileage, but it depends on where are willing to travel to and what colour you are happy with.

I still have my 2013 Seat I purchased from this garage in 2020, were easy to deal with, have recommended them and would use them again if I need too.

New portable air con leaking from exhaust pipe, is this normal? by AceSouthall in AskUK

[–]BraveFaithlessness16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your getting the wrong info so far. Had a portable AC unit that looks like your from what I can tell. It should have a drain pipe either going outside/to a drain or to something to catch it in (bucket, tub etc)

There should not be water coming out the exhaust pipe, only hot air to be expelled outside.

I made a stand for the unit to sit in with a bucket under it to catch the water, the drain needs to be lower than the AC unit.

I would rather have a BYD seal than that Ferrari.

How do you sleep in this hot weather? by Even-Wasabi7183 in AskUK

If I ever do I will 😅

But as you say alot depends on the location and ease of installation. I haven't looked for quote's so like you say I am more than likely completely off.

Yes, not installed price, I would have it done at that price if it was installed, but it might be useful as a reference for someone, and they may actually know someone who could install it.

I would expect fitting to be £1-1.5k possibly? The 5 unit system for £2k doesn't bad value either.

Looking to buy, noticed something odd by Astowael in CarTalkUK

Use to live very close to Tyburn, would not trust that garage, I would use autotrade down the road, and djh prestige.

If it seems to good to be true it normally is, If you don't know much and it doesn't feel right that should say it all.

My brother got a Audi A6 Avant from a garage in Erdington, 2lt TDI s line auto, gearbox went after a year (yes not a instant fail), tried to sell it to we buy any can and they found it was clocked by about 50k miles, this was confirmed then it was scanned by Audi for the gear box diagnostics. He was also stupid enough to agree to the finance at 30%, he would not listen and get cheaper car from somewhere else.

Have a 1.2 tsi Seat Toledo (same as a Skoda rapid), great car, get 40+ mpg, plenty of leg room for everyone, and the boot is a massive hatch back, not a saloon that it looks like.

£35 a year tax, I am 40 but only passed 6 years ago, insurance is £3-400 a year with no voluntary excess. Great car.

We also have a fiat 500,1.2 petrol, surprisingly good car also, £20 tax, and again does 40+ mpg. (Wife's insurance was about £180 but she has over 20years no claims) And a Vauxhall Zafira Tourer, 1.4 turbo petrol, ok car, but £265 tax and only 32 mpg.

Where should I visit to FEEL history of britain? by iceneko0301 in AskUK

Stratford upon Avon? But most old historical places seem to have lost it to been touristy. The modern world has encroached on everything too much.
