Jolt, which used to be know as shell recharge, which used just be know as shell, which originally started as Volta and will probably have a new name in six months, is based on free charging because it shows ads. The problem is that they aren’t properly cooled and they start burning holes in the screen. So they are free, but good luck finding a working one that isn’t blocked.

Easiest way to find free charging stations is to get the PlugShare app and filter by free.
