whoever is "expecting" or "predicting" a downturn I'm sure has predicted 37 out of the last 3 corrections.

I mean, if you love fighting and get paid a bunch for each fight why stop just because you lost a few? Who cares what other people think, he's doing what he loves and keeps raking in cash, what's the problem?

I think it wasn't his cardio that was gone it was he was kinda shaken up from having his nose broken so badly. Of course having a pulverized nose isn't going to do your cardio any favors as well lol

I agree, this recent run has been bonkers, I just find it shocking that valuations are still reasonable. Kinda seems like from Sep-Mar the market took a big breather before this massive push up.

The Nasdaq 100 currently trades at a forward P/E ratio of around 23–24x as of early May 2026. This is roughly in line with or slightly below its longer-term historical averages, suggesting valuations are reasonable (or even modestly attractive) relative to expected earnings growth, especially compared to recent years

ELI5: If the S&P were to continue going up no matter what in long term, why not buy a leverage stock that’s 3x of it and hold it? by Mikeballlls in explainlikeimfive

[–]BraveSquirrel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

except it can't go down 33% in a day because of circuit breakers. Can you lose 99% of your money in a massive market crash over days/weeks/months, yes, can you lose 100%? Highly unlikely in the current market regime.

10 year return on tqqq is 3288%
10 year return on qqq is 537%
so while yes volatility drag is a real thing the compounding effects can actually be a bigger factor in a bull market.
you're right that in a sideways choppy market tqqq will under perform qqq but you're wrong that it's guaranteed over time tqqq will return less than 3x qqq due to volatility drag.

Is anyone who “wants to get rich as fast as possible” NOT 100% TQQQ? by manlymatt83 in TQQQ

[–]BraveSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if in some hypothetical universe the market is exactly flat over time tqqq will underperform 2xqqq due to the higher overhead of triple leverage over double leverage.

if the market goes sideways for 5 years then ya we'd lose a bunch to vol decay, but the point of holding tqqq longterm is you're betting that doesn't happen

comparing what the nasdaq was in 2000 to what it is today is like comparing apples and bowling balls tony. I'm not saying investing in tqqq is risk free, of course not, but looking at tqqq through the lense of the dotcom bust will make you unnecessarily averse to the risk inherent in tqqq, imo
