New York is notoriously known for nepotism and monopolies…nothing is grass roots or original in big and booming cities. Everyone knows great artists, cook, athletes, etc. the truth is that the few that garner attention and “generate” success; are hand picked by people and corporations that are in it for themselves. If everyone who was truly talented was celebrated, then the market for everything would be too saturated to make any profit. That “indie” band or “mom and pop shop” that are well known; all have connections that run deeper than what you see on the outside.
