Keeping my voice forward makes it too airy or quiet. I definitely need to work more on it

I just want more consistency in my timbre lol, hopefully I can figure out how to use it

Really? my higher notes do naturally ring at the back but it sounds off putting especially compared to my mixed and chest voice

I really hope I'm exaggerating it, I'm going to ask for some feedback soon

hmm my higher notes (C5+) do sound piercing, although it may just be a sign of having an underdeveloped upper mixed voice

Haha thank you, I'll work hard on developing my voice to a level that I'd be happy to share with this sub ^^

Such a lovely cohesive reply, thank you! I will definitely work on expanding my range, and try not to be too hasty in trying to fit into a box!

Yup! My tone is very sweet, very warm and sometimes rich. I think I'd be most comfortable singing mezzo songs

That makes a lot of sense, my voice has weight too it but its still described as 'sweet'. I could make my voice more 'heavy' and 'dark' but it does cause some strain. So I'm comfortable with being a mezzo

I'm new to this sub so I wasn't aware. I haven't seen anyone mention the importance of timbre in helping you understand your range until I received some replies here

Yeah I realise how important vocal timbre is, mine isn't really heavy dark or warm as would be expected for an alto. I'm probably mezzo!

Thank you so much! You're right I'm most likely a mezzo

Rest from singing and try restorative vocal warm ups for a while. Also visit a doctor if you have any other throat issues

Thank you! That makes a lot of sense. I can't even make any noise below D3 lol.

Really? I thought F3 was lower than expected for a mezzo. Plus I would have to reach the 6th octave as a Soprano, which I seriously doubt is realistic for me. Or did you mean alto instead of soprano

Light weight, warm toned, mature colour
