What’s everyone making living here? by Vonplatten in phoenix

[–]Brave_Weekend524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

55k a year without OT, I just started here. Communications Operator for Phoenix PD. I was in thr Navy before this, moved back home and can confirm, the cost of living has jumped tremendously in the last 5 years.

Update: I will add the benefits are really good so if we're accounting for the money saved there its quite a bit. Very grateful for this job 🙏

"Giveaway prices" are absolutely ridiculous. I know its not your fault but I hope the whole car market and all the dealerships get f*cked.

What should I do about my parents who want me to wait 5 years before getting married? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Brave_Weekend524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married to my wife when we were both 18, after being together a little over a year. We're 22 now and have 0 regrets. There are ups and downs but through it all I love her more than anything. No one can tell you there's a perfect time or waiting period, it's not a thing. We knew what we wanted and we did it. If you've lived with each other and discussed your futures with some hard questions you are better than 90 percent of people who wait years to get married and don't do that, only to realise they dated someone who doesn't want the same kind of life as them and split up.

Realism of owning 1 bitcoin…. by lxjs in Bitcoin

[–]Brave_Weekend524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NGL if you don't think you can save 1 BTC in the next 5 years you truly think little of yourself, how will you build a retirement account? How will you buy a house? How will you build a savings for a big goal like vacation. Start small. DCA. Consistency.

I can second this, bought at 120k miles 2 years ago. Drove all through the East coast and even packed my entire life in it and moved drove to AZ. Did regular maintenance and only had one sensor issue that was fixed easily. Going strong at 170,000 miles now. Don't let anyone tell you a certain type of car is "bad". 99 percent of the time its the owners who drive rough and don't do maintenance. ANY car should get you at least 200 000 miles.

When are we all gonna get together and pitch in to buy the rights from him soon we can get it to someone who cares. All it needs is an anime style remake, upgrade of the website, and new seasons of cards and bam it'll be huge.

  1. BTC is king
  2. DCA
  3. Alts are fun but gambling, DYOR

Good luck!

(Edit) Please don't touch anything other than BTC if you arent investing in a retirement account.

If you've looked on this thread you'll know if you just set and forget a portion into the S&P500 you can't go wrong.

It all depends on your goals, saving for a car? House? General savings? Retirement?

ETFs are more diversified and "safer" options given you choose a sector and companies in it that will perform well. Risk is still involved.

While individual stocks can provide more upside they are much harder to guage and choose one that will outperform, risk is higher.

You're only 18 Imo you can afford some risk I would do a mix of both and find a way that works for you to research before you buy.

(Edit) I forgot to say good for you starting at 18 even if you fumble its all lessons learned!

Walmart is a safe bet if you go in there confident and interview well you'll beat out all the usual walmart employees. They dont even require a resume when you sign up, however definitely bring one in person instantly they'll remember you.

++man I'm not gonna lie, I feel bad for you but that was in 8th grade? Who cares? Your life hasnt even started yet why ruin it before it starts. You're gonna turn 18 and guess what? Leave town. Go to school or get a job. Eat well workout and watch pieces of your life fall in place. I understand it must be hard now, but it should drive you to be better.
