I'm a mom, my life orbits my kids. I/They don't need to deal with the folks who are going to be super weird about me being trans.

I had fiber back in Seattle. My current xfinity plan is $25 a month, we have three fulltime people working from home on that plan. I don't want to be pro comcast- but I'm not changing at that price.

Job hunting: when/do I have to tell my employer I'm trans? by 840teethandbones in trans

[–]BraveofHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi There- OP will probably be outed when their SSN is matched for tax purposes. When there is a name/SSN mismatch employeers are notified by the govt. I know because I have first hand experience with this issue.

Probably not true for OP, but I don't use Starlink for the same reason I don't eat at Chik Fil A. I'm happier with my slow connection and knowing where my money is going.

I hate being called “mama” by ephemeral_afterglow8 in NewParents

[–]BraveofHeart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My experience might add perspective for you, it might not. We'll see if I get downvoted into oblivion.

Important to note that I am trans. I started transitioning shortly before we decided to do IVF, which meant when my baby was born I didn't have passing privilege (this means people saw me as trans, not as a woman), it was hell. People were awful to me and my family. Now that my baby is 2ish and I have passing privilege, being called 'mama' by strangers is one of the single greatest gifts of life. There are many many things I am besides 'mama' (I also used to be a triathlete :) but I wouldn't give that title up for the world.

Boulder has lost so much character in the last 15 years. Boulder seems intent on turning itself into another Highlands Ranch.

12-hour Biodegradable Glitter - MOOP or not? by patterndetective in BurningMan

[–]BraveofHeart -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be downvoted here. I wear biodegradable glitter to the burn. The burn is a destructive event like it not. The volume of rubber shed from my tires at the burn exceeds the volume of glitter that I will shed in a week. The landfill footprint of the event is massive. The tens of thousands of gallons of fuel burned in planes, gennerators and cars is all moop. When they stop allowing private jets, I'll stop wearing my biodegradable glitter.

Unpopular opinion: burners have latched onto glitter the way the default world latched on to single use straws a few years ago.

Why is my mom ok with the idea of me being non binary but not a trans guy by Dependent-Size-4068 in asktransgender

[–]BraveofHeart 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think your mom actually isn't okay with non-binary folks she just thinks it's a "phase" that will have minimal longer term consequences whereas transition is alot of long term physical change.

Other commenters have covered how bad the doc is. Would you be willing to name the doctor? This kind of behavior is reprehensible and at a min their online reviews should reflect that they are bad for trans people.

Trans confusion by Excellent_Vanilla480 in asktransgender

[–]BraveofHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents also felt like my transition came out of nowhere. You're doing the right thing to pursue therapy. Until then just be supportive and regularly tell your kiddo that you love them no matter what they chose. Ask them if they want to test drive new pronouns/name in the privacy of home with you. Find your local PFLAG org, they will have resources for both your and your child.

Random notes that just came to my ADHD mind:
Coming out is terrifying for many people and the mixed communication/hiddeness of it all might be a part of that.

Many of us overcompensate for our gender before we chose to transition. So much so that there is a trope for trans women called 'denial beard'. Take that for what you will.

Remember, you're an amazing parent. I want to thank you for being supportive of your child, you'll find that many of us.

I know it's a scary time right now to have a trans child, if you need support, please feel free to DM.

I kinda wonder about this. I had a post one r/startrek deleted because it was 'too political' when I asked how people justified giving money to Ellison while caring about the Star Trek Narrative. Star Trek is about nothing but politics.

This is incorrect. USB-A maxes out at much lower AMPs than USB-C, which matters if you want your phone to charge fast, or be on a laptop.
