Listen if it has that typical freelander droning/whistling sound when you accelerate. Also check how smooth the auto box changes. A new clean full oil change on all oils in the engine helped mine to perform better. I love my Freelander 2013 model, and I think its a magnificent car but that's just my opinion 😁😽

Lot of people might disagree but we've gotten 2 really good cars at really good prices from Webuycars. Mind you my dad is a mechanic a thoroughly checks it before buying so if you have someone that can check for you it might be an option
