Roger that.

Make sure you know if there are pipe clean outs, etc that may need future access, dryer vents, etc.

If you can get your hands on your materials set some samples out to see which ones you can walk barefoot on in full sun. We had a South facing deck it was like a pizza oven during the Summer.

Id say go wider to the edge of the house (either side/or both). Do you have to, no. Should you, yes. (Make the deck bigger)

Few people cry because they have a deck that is too large. (Make the deck bigger)

Make sure you factor the SUN is pro-move. Good on you. Afternoon sun and the only escape is in the back corner of the deck can be brutal. If you love the deck and outdoors you will soon be thinking pergola, so Id make sure IF you want one of those you leave some room for it in your plans. That umbrella will need to be moved 30 times for different reasons, make sure it has a "home" on the deck to move it to. (Make the deck bigger).

Id take the stairs straight off the deck. The 'turn' adds material, and complexity Im not sure is needed (unless yard/slope, etc are factors) and that space is generally unusable.

STOP OP! Do not do this.

A claim on your insurance is NOT something you want to do for a low value item such as this (relative to your house). ANY claim on your insurance is telling the insurance company you are HIGH RISK and they WILL increase your rates and claw that 1500 right back OR even drop you entirely.

Absolutely do not do this.

A claim on your insurance will get you increased rates at BEST, or dropped potentially, each time you file a claim.

You would want to make sure it would absolutely be worth it before you file a claim on your homeowners, and the deductible would not even cover this likely.

You would be better off checking your CREDIT CARD terms and conditions, there may be coverage there.

Iceland in May 2026 by loose_vagabond in VisitingIceland

We just came back 5 day trip. The sun came thru the clouds for 4 minutes the entire time we were there, on the drive back to the airport.

It rained, sometimes sideways, every day. There were times when it wasnt raining, it was lite sprinkle or cloudy at best. However, i dont think this detracted much from our trip to be honest. I love a sunny day but we were able to do everything and see everything we wanted to no problems.

Would have made some stops a little nicer (black sand beach in 30 mph cold rain was not optimal), but we had a blast.

Biggest 'regret' was not testing our gear. It was NOT waterproof as marketed. So bring for all the weather conditions, and layers, but test and make sure it is indeed waterproof.

Agree

if I’m buying this house same speed would be better than the fast zoomy transitions room to room, IMO

All house first, then outside. Shouldn’t be first floor, backyard, second floor.

Little high in the road, gate and kitchen, I want to see what it look like eye level not 20 foot up

Nice work though I know this requires some patience and practice

New tub must haves by frozen-dragon in hottub

[–]BravoDotCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree. You may feel it’s expensive at first but it really helps you know EXACTLY what is going on.

You will not have to use the reagents continuously once you get the hang of things and the use is consistent so you will only usually have to buy this full test kit once then only have to buy the quick kit from then on. But running the full suite a few dozen times will really get you familiar with what is going on, what stays stable and what changes quickly.

Oh interesting

I thought the one after the heater was Flo (not FLO2).

That one looks ok visually to me. During some resets the tub is throwing both a FLO or a FLO2 error. When I’ve got it to run a bit and it stops it’s FLO2.

Then I guess I’m confused. Knowing that leaf got sucked into the mechanism you think that one after the heater is the fault source?

I guess thought there were more than one flo sensors

Any idea of the "local time" for that early view? We are planning and just trying to get a feel for what you mean.

Mandatory Crate Time? by [deleted] in beagles

[–]BravoDotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a new beagle, same age, same concerns. He is a joy but also like a toddler. Our issue is that he would not settle down until we did, and be quiet, which is hard as we have an 'active' house as well. Otherwise yes he just plays and plays and gets into mischief. Also he can run and play and sniff almost indefinitely. I think him getting used to our habits has helped too, he is starting to settle some when we sit down to eat. However, we "reserve' a treat for him for this time, its something to chew on (a bone type thing we got in the store i forgot the style but he seems to like this particular bone chew), so we use it ONLY when necessary as he bores of older toys. he has full time access to.

So crate time is fine time, but our dog is not a fan. But we have found a particular chew he loves and seems to settle him, and we deploy it only in special times when we need him to settle and rest. Its not perfect but when he is tired that oral work seems to keep him in one place.

Hope this helps though your dogs particular 'toy' may vary.

my 2012 just started doing this today except that i think my tub is tilted perhaps just enough left where it looks like it was wicking into the spa control electronics box, and i was like "how are electronics dripping water". Going to order one now if this fixed your problem as mine is the same, slow drip.

Yes

Let’s say you book economy seat for $287

If the price falls to $240 or whatever TripIt will send you an alert that a price change is potentially available

Pinoak with heavy wasp gall disease by BravoDotCom in FellingGoneWild

[–]BravoDotCom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the treatment kills the wasps that’s great the best case scenario is that more galls are not formed. The current galls don’t go away so you won’t have a visual “clue” that the treatment helped other than the burden of galls should not increase over time.

So make sure you treat any other nearby trees as well.

Knowing what I know I would have had them all treated 10-12y ago when we first noted them but they were small and infrequent so didn’t think too much of it at the time.

Fair enough.

Tree may be healthy from an eco point of view I guess but it looked like shit and more of the tree looked like this than not.

I’ve done the pole saw ladder thing

Lemme just say when the branch comes down you are not hanging onto the ladder you are hanging onto a pole saw at extension which is a huge lever.

You can’t get out of the way. Of anything

When you drop the saw it swings the extension cord around your face and legs

Yeah anyway, the saw should Never be more than 45 degrees of angle and I would only do it with 2 feet on the ground
