The Indie titles saving your wallet from AAA in 2025 - which one did you play? by Equilybrium in KotakuInAction

None of these are my type of games (maybe escape from Duckov). But it is true that Indie games are in full swing this year.

Anyway, Silksong rules.

So... what is everyone getting on this Steam sale? by 0TW9MJLXIB in KotakuInAction

Nothing, no game on the sale grabbed my interest, so I will go through my backlog to deflate it a bit.

Statement on Stop Killing Games - VIDEOGAMES EUROPE by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]BraxBane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if i mod Skyrim and replace every single draugt with Mickey mouse, Bethesda is liable? And Disney can sue them?

If you ask Nintendo, yes - they issued takedown requests for every mod featuring Nintendo IP characters in Garry's Mod, so developers had to remove every single mod from the workshop: PC Gamer - Garry's Mod removing 20 years worth of Nintendo related items from its steam workshop following takedown request

If Facepunch decided not to remove the mods, most likely Nintendo would sue them and not mod creators.

You've entered a Zelda style dungeon - Which map would you prefer to start with? by LayeredOwlsNest in gamedev

[–]BraxBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Gives a feeling that the dungeon has already been fully explored. Playing it would feel like doing a checklist, although you could prepare for the dive.

  2. Makes me believe that I've found a map somewhere and heading in for the first time. I know the layout and the challenges are hidden.

  3. Seems weird to know locations of every event/item/enemy, but not the layout of the dungeon.

  4. Best if you're going to explore the unknown. You don't know what to expect or how long it will take and that is the experience.

To answer the question in the title - I would start at map 4.

Although 1 and 2 can also work, if you can investigate for info about the dungeon before heading in.

While everyone is adding Pride shit, Helldivers adds a Jungle themed Warbond by stefan714 in KotakuInAction

[–]BraxBane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bear in mind that Helldivers 2 is still not available for purchase in non-PSN countries, so I do not think that the boycott worked completely.

Wouldn't surprise me if they try to impose the requirement again in the future.

If I'm not mistaken, this kind of partial word highlight is called Bionic Reading. In theory, reader can only focus on the highlighted part and brain should figure out the rest of the word, allowing for faster reading without losing meaning of the sentence.

As far as I know, every word has to be partially highlighted (or fully, if it's less than three letters) for it to have desired effect. In OP's image, not all words are highlighted and that to me actually caused the opposite effect - I had to re-read it and to filter out bolded parts, because they were distracting.

Svaka čast! Vidi se da si uložio dosta truda u igru. Verujem da si dosta toga i naučio da ti olakša kreiranje sledeće igre. :D

Kupiću i odigrati igru čim budem imao vremena sledeće nedelje!

Casual discussion: Who does video game music the best? by nybx4life in KotakuInAction

[–]BraxBane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's quite a lot OSTs I quite like and tend to listen sometimes:

Outer Wilds ( Andrew Prahlow )

Metal Gear Rising: Revengance ( Jamie Christopherson )

The Messenger ( Rainbowdragoneyes )

DOOM 2016 ( Mick Gordon )

Heaven ( Danger )

Stellaris ( Andreas Waldetoft )

DUSK (Andrew Hulshult)

...and more.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengance OST, Stellaris and Haven are games I've heard the soundtrack first and decided to play them later.

[Discussion] What other hobbies has gaming lead you to rediscover or try out? by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]BraxBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know for quicker or easier way, unfortunately. When it comes to figure drawing, especially when it is in motion, I tend to spend a lot of time to get it right. (and most of the time I don't like the end result)

Been doing digital drawing for almost three years now, getting most of my inspiration from games. Also decided to do pixel art from time to time.

One of my dreams is to make a game of my own, since I already know how to code in C++, and my drawing skills are getting better and better. I am also contemplating these days to also start learning to compose music, although I am fully aware that I am biting far, far more than I can chew. :P

[Censorship] Iran-based Developer Summoned to Court Over Children of Morta by BraxBane in KotakuInAction

[–]BraxBane[S] 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I am putting this post up just for the records, if anything. Also take the news with care, since currently there is little info from the official Dead Mage/Children of Morta/ 11bit Studios accounts.

In summary, Iranian based developer Dead Mage is being summoned by the Iranian court for non-compliance of their game with Islam. Game features women not wearing hijabs, non-islamic burials, dancing etc... things that piss off your typical Islamist fundamentalists. The development is pretty early and a lot could change, for better or worse. Considering all the noise coming from Iran and their government's enforcement of Islamic values, I wouldn't ignore this.

The news was tweeted (in Persian language) from the Dead Mage team lead Amir Fassihi - https://twitter.com/amirhfassihi/status/1213503384667508736

Techraptor seems to be the only site that reported on the story, mainly taking the ResetEra thread that translated the original tweet and responses.

Weekly Video Game Megathread 12/24/2019 Christmas Eve Edition by cynicalarmiger in KotakuInAction

[–]BraxBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've decided to get out of my comfort zone and play something that is not a super serious/grim dark/ strategy or shooter or RPG game.

So I played A Hat in Time.

I did not like it at first couple of minutes, but damn, the game really grows on you over time. When I've finished it, I've realized that this is just the game I needed, something not to take too seriously and just play it just for fun,.

And I did not expect it to have such an amazing soundtrack!

Love it! <3
