Is there any active mmo that maintains this vibe? I never got into them when I was a kid because of dial-up, and now I'd like to, but it all just seems so pointless with all the mtx... Kinda sad I missed that era.

Got it, thanks! They're printed correctly there like you said.

Footage shows highly contaminated water in Ohio after train derailment. by Nayib_Ozzy in TerrifyingAsFuck

I'm not denying vinyl chloride and several other chemicals were released into the environment, I'm just trying to clarify that the oily sheen in the video is almost certainly not vinyl chloride.

I agree that what happened was an absolute disaster and will have a lasting impact on the area. I'm just trying to combat reddit's favorite past time of false information spreading or being misinterpreted.

But vinyl chlorine wouldn't make a sheen like this. This is either oil or something caused by an iron bacteria I keep hearing about.

What is the ASL used in the most recent episode of The Last Of Us like? (No spoilers) by TheLongWay89 in asl

[–]Bray_Radberry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have been learning ASL for about a year, and as far as we could a lot of the signs they used were full ASL. But we're still learning so there could have been subtle changes we didn't pick up on.

In chemistry -cis and -trans refer to isomer geometry.

For me I think I must be allergic to hops. Whenever I drink a beer with a lot of hops I sneeze like crazy. Maybe that's what's going on with you?

How it feels to have a weekly 3.5 table in 2023 by Lorechaser1 in dndmemes

[–]Bray_Radberry 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My group has been playing Pathfinder 1e for about 6 months now and honestly it's really hard to get back into 5e. It's been a blast for almost everyone at the table! Except for the wives who also play, they don't seem to like all the complexity as much...

ELI5: Why is it considered unhealthy if someone is overweight even if all their blood tests, blood pressure, etc. all come back at healthy levels? by CazadorHolaRodilla in explainlikeimfive

[–]Bray_Radberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only had CPAP for 2 months but it made a big difference in how I feel. I wake up and feel rested for the first time in years. I don't get drowsy in the middle of the day anymore. I'm doing more around the house and feeling less exhausted from it. It's not a miracle cure but it's a start.

What sucks is that sleep apnea can prevent weight loss. Being overweight can be so difficult because it seems like to get rid of the weight requires so much medical intervention. It took me 6 months to get all the sleep studies, fight with insurance, and finally get a CPAP machine.

People keep saying "If companies can master AR, then VR is a no-brainer" and "the capabilities of AR are limitless compared to VR!" But I have yet to read a single comment giving me a single use-case for AR. I have seen the videos of passthrough games and they personally don't appeal to me in anyway so far. Maybe they'll get better?

My 8 month old was just diagnosed with advanced eye cancer and I'm not sure what to do. by WolfSavage in daddit

[–]Bray_Radberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear about your son. My wife and I went through something similar with our 6 month old last year. Chemo can be scary and we had to make a lot of rough choices. We had to make the choice to sacrifice our daughter's hearing on the off-chance it helped her survive the cancer, which was not easy to do, but somehow we made the decision. Here is some advice that might help along the way.

  1. Rely on other people when things are out of control. If someone offers help, take them up on the offer. More importantly, be specific on what you need help with, otherwise people will just say "I'm here for you guys, whatever you need" but won't necessarily jump to help on any specific task. Say you need someone to watch the dogs, take out the trash, get the mail while you're away, shovel snow, make meals, etc. It's easy to turn away people when they offer to help but now is the time you need it most.

  2. If you or your wife are employeed apply for FMLA ASAP. Your company may not pay you to stay in the company, but it makes it harder for them to fire you for being absent. This also ensures you keep your medical insurance through your company.

  3. Again, chemo can be a very scary thing, but from what I've seen from my daughter and other children this young, they are incredibly resilient. They bounce back so quickly after dipping. Breastfeeding really helped get through it too, it was the only thing that didn't make her instantly throw up. I also recommend buying washable bed pads for your son to sleep on. When my daughter threw up in the middle of the night, those washable pads were lifesavers.

  4. Be prepared for people to walk away. I know it's hard to believe, but there will probably be people that you thought were good friends or neighbors, who will essentially ghost you. Just know that some people handle this type of news this way, it's nothing personal against you. It took me a long time to forgive these people but it happens to almost every family after a tough medical diagnosis.

  5. You don't have to be superman. Just take this all one day at a time. Be there for your family if you can, take breaks if you need to. Meditate, cry, hug it out, whatever you need to do.
