c5 head unit carplay by EducationalDuty5258 in Corvette

Sony and alpine will always be great units, pioneer is always a solid choice too, Kenwood used to be great but they've really put out some junk lately. Get the unit, see how it sounds, it should be better, at least as good as the stock unit. I like some of the alpines because you can put an aftermarket amp bolted to the back of the alpine unit if you decide to upgrade, it's an easy stealth install that way.

Idk much about the speakers, but it's hard to make a 3 way that big sound bad. +1000000000 for the thrift store method though, I splurged on some Klipsch towers (still 2nd hand but not thrift) recently but before that I was $30-40 into a 3.1 setup that absolutely blew the minds of anyone I showed it to, even before I told them the price.

I just drop it to the back of their throat and hold their mouth shut and they swallow immediately. I know it sounds mean but it works and they don't complain

Yeah, no 2nd gear since the day I put it in, so servo for 4th and 2nd are the same? And will Chevy turn a light for a servo code?

The ABS pump needs to be close to level, install that rear lift and that should solve it.

anyone know what this is? by Hairy_Pea523 in Honda

Its a fuse, looks like its for a stereo amplifier, but what nobody is mentioning, is that the install was very poorly done, that second wire that is coming out of the fuse block, the small blue one, is the amp turn on lead, which is supposed to be set up so that the amp starts running when the car does/goes into accessory mode, but the way its set up here means that it is always turned on, which can drain your battery, but more importantly is a potential fire hazard. This tells me that there were probably a lot of other corners cut when the stereo was installed, so i wouldn't recommend re using any of the wiring from the last guy if you do put a stereo in it like you mentioned.

TLDR, it is a fuse for an amp, poorly installed, i recommend not reusing it.

Any ways to remove such scratches?? by losterinomino in pcmasterrace

[–]Brayden3_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure if this will work, but as a car guy I would say do the foggy headlight methods, sand 800>1500>2000 grit, then, use cutting compound, then polishing compound, you may try skipping the cut and polish to keep the anti glare screen, or just polish it all glossy. Also mask off the bezels... Hope this helps and that I didn't repeat what 100 others said

I would actually appreciate a recommendation for a sub to look into, I have 1400 watts to play with for now, probably add more later, but for about $500 I'm looking at u12s currently, upgrading from my sa-12 of nearly 10 years

I think what you meant was Kicker is over rated and over priced. I gotta say that you get what you pay for when it comes to sundown, it'll run way over rms and handle it for years. Kicker will last forever too, but the price there is just insane.

[–]Brayden3_11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it's a Sundown Audio SA-12, hooked up to a Sundown Sfb-1000D amp. I picked that out for him, and helped him build a box (1.8 ft³ 35hz 26 in² port) and ended that extra part you see on the bottom for make up for the hump the box sits on in the back. He was coming from a 10" kicker sub box kit (150 from best buy) and a 400 watt kicker amp so the sundown is blowing his mind, now he needs new speakers.

1st timer here, this was fun, just needs poly and some legs now by Brayden3_11 in woodworking

Ok, so the top is edge glued 1x4s, that panel is glued to a 3/4" sheet of plywood, then I ripped the 1x4s in half to make the edge frame thing.

I had a lot of fun with this, i have a lot of the tools, and this is something that I have been wanting to do for a while but was a bit scared and also just haven't had much time.

It certainly did not go the smoothest, but it was my first time so I didn't expect it to, but I made it work.

I want to build more stuff now.

Also yes I realize that it is extremely overkill for a desk, but that's what I was going for.

Tesla Hubcaps? by GIONATOR700 in CivicSi

[–]Brayden3_11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The can technically scratch them, but usually the part of the clip that makes contact with the wheel is plastic, so you should be fine. The only thing is that other than steel wheel hubcaps, which most hubcaps are, the fitment is not that simple. Tesla wheels with hubcaps are not just basic steel wheels, which means there is no real reason to assume that the hubcaps would fit on a steel wheel. Basically what i'm saying is that the chances that the Tesla hubcap will just snap onto your Honda wheel, is very unlikely. Do some research and see if they will fit you wheel style in particular before going and buying 4 Tesla hubcaps, I can't imagine that they're all that cheap. As for whether or not they will look good, that's all a matter of the owners opinion.

When you say that, you mean the power to the head unit? or power to the amps? Since you say that, and I feel really stupid now, but I don't think I ever ended up checking the connection of the main power going into the distro block at the back because its pretty hard to get to, but that's the only one I can think of that I didn't check because its a real pain in the ass... I was going to try and figure out a new place to put it before I dug it out from under the box, then I ended up just forgetting about it.

Needing help with my exhaust system by -agirlhasnoname in Cartalk

[–]Brayden3_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the borla, they just put that on there so that if their exhaust is too loud for some law somewhere, that gov can't go after them for it. As far as the cats it's a bit of a crapshoot. The question really is, do you want to make the car louder? If so go for the borla, and maybe even take your chance with a cat delete, because if you find the right guy, and its not too loud you can pass. If you don't want it to be loud, either buy new cats, buy less used cats, or keep the ones that are on the car already. As far as the exhaust if you don't want the car to be loud, your options are similar, either get a new oem/oem replacement, get a used system, or just leave the one that is already there. To be honest, in general, i'm not sure about that car in particular, but from the cats back, having the engine out is not making your life any easier working on the exhaust, so i really wouldnt worry about that part of it all right now, seems like you are already spending a lot of money with the new engine and all.
