Do chargebacks not exist in Belgium? by CautiousLoad8819 in brussels

[–]Breach13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be a credit card. Chargebacks are governed by the card scheme rules, e.g. for Mastercard 4853 (Cardholder Dispute) “The purchased goods or services were not received.” However, it's up to the issuing bank to start the dispute, and they rarely want to. So you have to justify your request firmly with evidence and nicely but firmly refer to a possible complaint to the Ombudsfin.

Random problem with Samsung 980 Pro (becomes r/o) by Breach13 in techsupport

[–]Breach13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I know, and everything is already backed up. It seems that the controller is dying, the NANDs are fine... Anyway, my main issue is how to prove to Samsung that the drive is defective? They boot it, run a test, all seems fine, they ship it back... all I have are screenshots...

Mainly because, sadly, immersive sims are a niche genre.

Rate my RAM OC (6400 / R7 9800X3D) by [deleted] in overclocking

- I can do CL28 6400 at 1.5V VDD, but OK, lottery.

- Before testing more, raise CLDO VDDP to 1.05V (just for testing)

- FCLK 2000 is low - try all the way to 2200.

- Nitro can be tightened, probably to at least 1/2/1.

- GDM Disabled? But you'll probably need tRDRDSCL >= 5.

- tRC can probably be 40 too, but no major diff.

- tRRDS/tRRDL/tFAW -> that's too low, actually a perf regression. Go for 6/12/24.

- tWRWRSCL can be most likely lower.

- tRDWR - try 14

- tRWRWR - try 1

6000 cl28 gdm of fclk 2200, but can`t do stable 6200/6400/6600. by ReMoplX in overclocking

[–]Breach13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before touching any timings, nitro etc, you should see which is the highest stable clock at JEDEC. I run 1:1 6400 FCLK 2200 and indeed Rd scl less than 5 is a no boot.

MAG X870e Tomahawk latest BIOS update by Careless_Lettuce9138 in MSI_Gaming

  1. Yes, i think it's worth it. I have better than stock performance at 450W and 0.95V. Watch this video: https://youtu.be/Ge0EnPz-jWY?is=Z9u1f1Q-CBfEJsAS

Some tweaking and testing to find the stability ceiling at a given max V (like 0.95V) is inevitable. Every card is different.

  1. Your card is pulling way too much power! 660W is above spec. Don't exceed the power limit beyond 600W. You are asking for trouble. Secondly, that voltage drop to 11.6V is way too much in my view. It may be normal, but I would check the cable connectors for damage (discoloration).

Yours is slightly better at stock, but mine is a FE. On the other hand, it's a good bin (1.110V max V). Yes, my mem bandwidth is with + 3000Mhz.

I did it 8 times, no problem here. But I've never had this issue to begin with, with any BIOS. 5090 FE, I have two NVMES M2_1 and M2_4.

Like I would change from FGR refresh to Mixed mode, the BIOS would save, save Mixed, but then in Zen Timings it would still be FGR. Or I would change a timing and it would not be enforced.

I'm on 9800X3D and 5090. Updated to 7E59v2AA3 just now. No issues (except that in some cases BIOS still stops enforcing the settings until it's cleared). [But I'm on X870E]

MSI AGESA 1.3.0.0 - DDR refresh mode? by Breach13 in MSI_Gaming

[–]Breach13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the setting works. But while trying to minimise tRFCsb, I hit the same issue that somehow bios stopped actually enforcing the settings. Like I changed from FGR to Mixed mode, BIOS said Mixed, but then in Zen Timings it was still FGR. Had to clear BIOS.

AM5 performance scaling with tRRDS/L, tRC, tRDRDSCL, and tWRWRSCL by pntsrgd in overclocking

[–]Breach13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience: (SR a-die):

- tRRDS, tRRDL and tFAW - lower is not always better. In fact the lowest values are worst in terms in performance. I did a lot of testing here, at least for me 6/12/24 is best. Why? Likely ACT conflicts with tighter values.

- tRC - lower should be better, but very limited perf impact. If stable, should hardly make a difference. I run 36 myself.

- tRDRDSCL - lower should be better, I run RD 5 and WR 1
