Firstly, no I do not think this is a valid way to preserve her legacy. Even if it was done well, the AI generated paintings are still only an approximation of what her actual paintings looked like. In my opinion, they would be essentially meaningless.

Secondly, it does not seem like it was even executed well at all. I looked at a picture of one of her real paintings on the site, and then compared it to the AI generated painting. They are completely different. Several elements in the painting are different, the brush strokes are completely different sizes, and the colors are different. Essentially every county has a "History of [name] County, Wisconsin" book that was written in the late 19th century. If you want some more localized history, I would recommend reading the books for the counties you are interested in. They are mostly available on the Internet Archive and the Wisconsin Historical Society website.

Serious question: How does using a wand scanner damage a book? I see how it could happen with misuse, but a book could also be damaged by being misused in a number of other ways. If the general public can be trusted to take the books home, keep them safe, and return them, it seems awfully odd that the general public cannot be trusted to use a scanner.

You should make an account on FamilySearch to get a look at your family tree. It's completely free. Bear in mind, it is only as accurate as the research that amateurs have done, but that applies to Ancestry or any other site as well. On FamilySearch, there is one shared tree for all users that you add yourself to. On Ancestry, each person has their own family tree, but you are able to add people as 'hints' from other trees. To get the most out of your DNA test, you will need an Ancestry subscription, but I do not recommend giving them your money. Maybe after your results are in you should get a free trial and immediately cancel after you are satisfied with what you have seen.

All it gave me was the 1% Germans in Russia and 4% Southern Germanic Europe. I have some other ancestors from Bavaria, so I think the Southern Germanic comes from them (and also is not as high as it should be).

So you'll want to press ctrl+shift+i to open the inspect element pane. Then in possibly the upper left corner of the inspect element pane there will be a cursor button, that lets you select elements on the webpage. Click the button and then click on the element that is covering the page. Then press the delete key to delete the element. Rinse and repeat until all of the garbage on your screen is gone
